I saw that there is a Roman mod in the scenario downloads, called leaders of the roman empire. Would that work with DV? I was considering buying Rome (although the reviews are not that thrilling :( ) but I can't buy it until my gaming laptop returns from repairs. At the moment I have my "integrated graphics" laptop and I would like to play something Roman in character :)

I'm pretty sure it won't work with DV. However; don't give up on Romans being in CK. While I wouldn't know how to mod the era of the Roman Empire into CK, I have created my own dynasties based on some of the old Roman nobles, created a new culture for them, created characters for the said dynasties and gave them ancient and late-era Roman empire names.

All of this took about an hour and thirty minutes and I enjoyed myself quite a bit. I did this by reading the various modding guides in the scenarios and modifications sub forums.

It might be highly a-historic that a noble family of CK's period identified themselves with their pagan Western Roman Empire ancestors, but it made it no less fun. I personally find the appeal of playing as a "Latin Roman" more exciting than a "Greek Roman".

One of the links is right here

The holy Roman Empire perhaps? Not latin, but you could make it so. And definatley not a truly legitimate Roman empire, but still :p

 A German "Roman" certainly ranks last on just about everyones list! No offense to any Germans of course ;) . Joking aside as I said it's quite fun to mod a few of the old Roman families into CK and put them in Italy or "Gaul" :D.

Thanks, but I got a bit tired from the same old empires and I really liked the Late Roman mod idea. A pity that the creator of the mod didn't finish it or adapt it for DV :(

Well, the HRE claimed to be the successors of the Western Empire. And didn't some guy (A German i think :p ) once say that 'the holy roman empire of germany wasn't holy, wasn't roman, wasn't an empire and wasn't german'??

Pffft! That was a Frenchman, naturally - Voltaire, the great joker. And his saying was actually only that it was neither holy, nor roman, nor an empire. He didn't deny that it was German.
