I am also having a problem with the game where it would randomly ctd saying eurome stopped working. Ive tried many of the fixes on the forums here with no success. Ive also tried many times to force the game to crash to see if it was specific to one event but it seems to be completely random.

I am currently running Windows 7 and picked the game up through steam.

Thanks for the help

What version and checksum are you getting? They should display on the main game menu screen, but for some people it is only showing when they go to host an MP game.

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files. Note that if you use Vista/Win7 and have installed the game in the suggested folder c:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\, the active versions of these last two files will have been redirected by Vista/win7 to a non-system directory, like c:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis - Rome\, where [name] is your Vista/Win7 user name. You may have to search your C: drive for them.

Just rename it to system.txt .

That checksum is wrong for the normal version, but in all honesty I'm not sure with Steam; they changed EU3 so that their version has a different checksum and may well have done so with Rome I guess. The version # is right though. In any case, run the Steam client's cache verify function, see if it finds anything to fix.
