Rome gold wont start up

Every time I try to start the game from the launcher I see a dialog box saying thay an unhandled exception has occured in your application. The details are:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled rome gold and that doesnt seem to help

The Launcher uses the Microsoft .NET framework whereas the game itself does not. So try running romegame.exe which bypasses the launcher; if that runs OK you have a Windows .NET problem, start by getting the latest .NET updates from MS.

If you have the Steam version, go into their client and do a Verify Downloads.

If that doesn't help try installing the fix details in post #4 of http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=382611 , and the latest DirectX 9.0c version from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en - extract the downloads to an empty directory - you could make a new one such as c:\dx9 - THEN run the installer DXSETUP.exe from there.
