Just an idea...but how about taking into account the different royal families/dynasties that were spread throughout Europe. I think that these had some influence on Europe during 14** to 18-whatever...the changeover would have drastically altered relations between certain nations.i.e. the changeover from House of Tudor to Stuart and the Babenbergs to Hapsburgs. What do you think?

Have a look at other threads!

This has been widely discussed and asked for prior to the press release. With the beginning of the game set 1419 prior to the real ascendancy of Habsburg, a dynastic model that models state marriages, lines of succession, marriages should be a diplomatic agreement beyond simple relationship bonus.

Have a look at the wish list for instance. the royal family thread is very enlightening.

Paradox will simply have to add a dynastic model!

I like it but I see it quite difficult to implement. Could even be an idea to make another game by itself, concentrating more into diplomacy.

You could simplify it slightly, i.e. relations would be bad/good for as long as a certain dynasty is on the throne, i.e. between Spain and England (Tudor/Stuart). I can't imagine that grouping monarchs together would be too challenging...but then what do I know?

There has been plenty of discussion on this with some excellent and easily introducable factors into the game.

As far as being resource consuming I would add that its not exactly rocket science opening up a history book....

I mean I could do Oman and I know that there are enough history bods out there to do the research if needs be. But to be honest I would expect Paradox to do this.

I have to agree with the above. Research isn't the problem. Programming might be.

Because the game will begin before these royal families really become powerful, it would be up to you to create a powerful dynasic line.

What about playing a GC with the goal of creating a Pax Europa thru the creation of a dynastic line so powerful, no nation would war on their brothers/sisters/cousins....

As it stands in EU I, I can have a RM with Spain. My ally France DoW's on Spain and asks me to honor the alliance. If I honor the alliance and DoW on Spain, I don't get the stability hit and other nasty consequences of attacking my dynastic ally Spain. That much should change. I should have the option of breaking a military alliance and have a CB on France for attacking my relatives.

Now making all of this into a playable option will take programming, not research.
