We have variable time compression that you turn up and down with the click of a key. Works really well.

Currently we don't allow giving orders while paused, but 1:1 speed is actually really slow so that should work fine :)

So no large encounters then. 1:1 speed real time or slower? When you're defending several ships and there is tens of ASM flooding in, it would nice to pause or slow the action down to deal with the known threats. real time is often way too fast to effectively address the situation, or is all this automated?

Oh yes, there will be large encounters. And also huge encounters!

Yes, by default, defense against missiles and aircraft is automatic. You can set up units to always fire on anything that flies automatically. You can also, if you are slightly masochistic, turn automatic engagements off completely and micromanage all attacks including ASM defense. This is the only instance where having slower than 1:1 would make sense, but no, we don't support that. :)

We've play-tested extensively at this stage, obviously, and it works really well. Most of the time you will play at higher time compression.

Good thanks for the answer, I'm an harpoon buff still have nightmares from the Russian air launch anti ship attacks from Tu 95 sqns :eek:hmy:
I guess the proof is in the pudding

Haha. So I have I.

And Naval War: Arctic Circle may well let you relive those nightmares!

Aggressive forward CAPs, and you should be fine! Just imagine what a couple of F-22s can do with a squadron of bears.
