Outrageous..i was posting this AAR, and IE crashed. fortunately, i took my family's horrible luck into account and was copy pasting it to myself on AIM.
Unfortunately, i did not take my horrible laziness into account and quit posting on aim after awhile. i will now have to do a shoddy job of hastily recreating what i typed in addition to the pasted text.
Ive always wanted to write an AAR, but i have...problems with motivation. as a matter of fact, it just occured to me that i cant just insert screenshots into the forum through copy+paste, so only the more important things will merit a screenshot. where this AAR starts is not important. i was bored, i loaded up nationalist spain, put the divisons where i wanted them on the french border, researched semi-modern chemistry, upgraded 4 of the starting fighters to ME-109 and disbanded all other air units. 3 mountain divisons are currently building.
On an aside, i have an irrational love for mountain divisons.
looking at spain's moderate-to-poor navy, while disbanding a sloop and some of those MTB gunboat things, i forumlated a plan to take over GB while they were (hopefully) comitted in france and doing Stupid British Ai Things, like marching in east africa.
spain has not entered the axis yet, and is at peace. i plan to deal a japan-style suprise attack to the british isles. military units, their positions and commanders, january 2nd:
Field marshall De Llano Y Sierra is in barcelona, with his corps of 4 infantry.
Field marshall and general bossman franco bahamonde is in huesco, with HIS four divisons. And again, field marshall mola videl is in bilbao with -his- four divisons.
Lt gen. Aranda Mata is in valencia with 3 divisons- i am not sure why. he is subject to being sent to vigo for the invasion of the isles.
Lt general yague has the nation's 2 artillery-infantry divisons, in malaga
Field marshall Sanjuro Sacanell is in sevilla with his 4 divisons. it is hoped these 6 divisons can overrun gibralter. if they cannot, the mountain troops in training (at 86, 88 and 107 days) will hopefully be able to shift the balance.
Oh, this is normal/normal. was just looking for a late-night-play-a-random-country-until-you-lose-intrest game, and it turned out to be the same, but with a (Shiny?) AAR attatched.
Synopsis of what i was posting but was deleted and unsaved; 2 cruisers, 2 destroyers under a nondescript admiral with a cruiser named after him in vigo; 3 cruisers and a destroyer in sevilla with an equally forgettable spanish admiral. the nation's 6 transports are in bilbao; a submarine is in valencia with no commander because i have a vendetta against submarines, a cavalry divison under mj gen'l garcia valino is in madrid. two infantry in vigo under roatta; 3 infantry in cuenca under a field marshal varela iglesias, although i have little faith in cuenca's vallue, and plan to abandon it to provide more troops to my invasion of britain if neccissarry.
On the war part..it is may 11, 1940. the incompetent germans only managed to take luxembourg, and even that in april. i first chided the italians for joining the impotence bandwagon on a war that has had hardly a great start, and then rubbed my eyes to see italians..advanced into egypt. the world is upside down. in any case, my original plan to let the germans almost overrun france is out the window due to time, i am joining the axis for better or worse on may 30th.
I should add this isnt the first time ive tried to invade britain with someone besides germany..im quite taken with the idea, and have tried at least 5 times with ireland, once with sweden, italy and japan. i
t wouldve worked as japan, if i hadnt been at war with russia, the usa and the commonwealths, who i never deemed to take out first
. Italy got bogged down as britain managed to actually put in sufficient troops, before logistics distances forced me to withdraw in shame with 1/3 of my force dying.
Sweden landed in scotland and was pushed out due to inferior numbers and tech, although i destroyed some british divisons first, the pinnacle of any minor invading britain.
Ireland has never had a chance, although ive tried several different strategies. My next goal is to assemble 10 irish militia divisons by the summer of 1940 from the '36 campaign, along with the starting inf, and 3 transports..these goals stretch greatly ireland's limit, and i doubt this plan will have any more success. perhaps a story for a later AAR if their's any intrest.
But this is about spain, and i plan to succeed this time, bad precedent for victory notwithstanding.
May 20th: Egypt joined the axis...this is OUTSTANDING. i cannot belive my luck, as i thoroughly belive my entire family & people are cursed to bad fortune.
May 27th: the italians have taken grenoble and lyon. the italians continue to amaze us by not rolling over and dying, but actually taking land. meanwhile germany....does nothing.. Italy's ethiopia is now in supply despite a lack of the suez canal, and italy has taken 8 provinces below egypt, in different places.
30th: big day, i join the axis. the 5 divisons in the southern spanish military area are attacking gibralter, due to the artillery divisons having to keep up this wont be until the 25th of june.
The three divisons in valencia, and the 3 divisons in cuenca (see? already abandoned it...sigh) are the first boarding the transports. Tincan diversion navy #1 is sailing with them, to hopefully distract the english with loud jeers and fireworks.
As an afterthought, the 12 divisons in the pyranees begin a general offensive on the 3 french provinces opposing them.
June 2: the tincan fleet #1 and the transports are sailing to britain. sunk 1 transport in the western bay of biscay..this is bad, it alerts the british navy to our presence.
the tincan fleet arrives in the irish sea and is already out of max range. worthless spanish destroyers..
It is june 4th; the 6 divisons will disembark against 1 tank in pylmouth on the 7th..three tense days.
june 6th, a british fleet, carrier and all, engages me. lucky me. worthless tincan fleet is dead by the time i click on the naval forces. the army will disembark in 9 hours, and its almost nightime. risking it..The decision is made for me though, my cowardly transports immedietly flee after i unpause.
We will recover from this though, tincan fleet #2 is in rout to vigo, where the transports are also heading. meanwhile, de Llano is the first of the three pyranees groups to reach his target, which unhappily is the most defended, by four french divisons. Llano is handily beat off..
I just read that sentance. im keeping it as evidence of what late night writing does to my writing performance.
And i spoke too soon! De Llano is taking more casualties, currently 245 to 310 or so, but the french are showing their true colors as effeminate sisies and their org is causing them to flee despite their less losses.
Also: mola videl arrives in bayonne, dispatching the french motorized div in a few hours.
Okay, not kidding here. as i reload the 6 divisons in vigo, two hours after they arrive a british carrier taskforce meets me outside my own harbor.
Fortunately, speedy retreat meant even the tincan fleet survived with no losses, albeit at 50% strength. the 4 me-109s are constantly naval bombing the bay...at least this way i can tear up some unsuspecting CAGs as they send all my spanish to the bottom.
The ME-109's spot a 4 cruiser force..but the cruisers dont spot the transports. im happy with this situation, and running.
June 18th: Same landing, same place, same opposition. hoping to last till the disembarking on 21st. meanwhile, the germans took brussels, the egyptians suez and the italians all of british-owned egypt.
De Llano arrives in Toulese, routs the french there. Mola Videl is on his way to auch, which will leave 1 french motorized encircled in tarbes, for a day, until franco arrives to sweep it aside.
Madrid cavalry is being sent to hold down unoccupied montpelier.
The spanish land in plymouth, and dispatch the tank there! outstanding. 1 motorized in southhampton, the routed tank in bristol. one of the 3 inf divison corps is being sent to each.
My troops arrive in gibralter very soon..this will free up more troops for britain, which is good, because i have none to spare at this time.
Gibralter is taken after a mere 8 hours, and the tarbes pocket is cleaned up. this appears to be an unmitigated reversal of fortunes.. the two artillery divisons are being left at gibralter, spanish troops are advencing torwards rodez and bordeaux. the mountain corps and Sanjuro's corps are heading tords vigo, and from there, hopefully britain.

we arrive in southampton on the first with 3 infantry, and it looks like we'll beat the british motorized, but bristol has been reinforced with another 2 divisons, and london looks ominous with 6 divisons. a tank is divison is in portsmouth.
Because of my fear of london, an additional 2 troops, originally vigo's garrison, is being sent to plymouth.
A belgian divison attacks the spanish occupational force at bourdeax, which we took. we salute the failed belgian attack..at least the belgians have the courage to attack, unlike some frenchmen we know.
The french must have heard me..they just, finally, took cueta. meanwhile our 3 divisons were beaten at bristol.
Roatta's two divisons made it. it is easier now that i can just head to port instead of amphibious landing. The other 3 divison corps arrives in bristol..this is due to bad planning.
Disaster! pylmouth is taken..we are now bottled up in southhampton.
Mountain corps finally arrived in vigo..will try to mend the british situation.
Transports engaged by a random force. still no sinkings, one transport is at 9 strength. mountain troops onboard, en route for britain.
