I recently made a high-valyrian character using the RD, I chose the option that said it would give me the Targ-coin-flip event and a few days later, got the event to set my dynasty to Bittersteel.

5 years later, however, and my child with Saera Targaryen became Essosi Valyrian. Shouldn't the choice I made at game start prevent culture flipping for my kid?

House Bittersteel is one of the Targ branch houses that don't stay High Valerion.

Yeah but there's an option at game start to change that right?

Edit: I was able to play as House Maegyr RD that stays High Valy instead of Essosi.
I had to select the first option without the coinflip. It might just be the coin flip one that doesn't prevent culture-flipping?
