Run Time Errors

Since I loaded Designer's Cut and Privateer, the game goes a few years, then freezes. I have to Alt Tab out only to see a run time error message. Once I click okay, it shuts EIC down. Any ideas what is causing this?
Anyone else having this problem?
I do not have Pirate's Bay. The game shows no updates when I have it check.
I have a Gateway FX desktop quad core, 8 G ram. EIC ran with no problems before I installed the Designer's Cut and Privateer.

Well, i had some problems too with my Steam version after i downloaded Privateer + Designer's Cut.
The game wouldn't start.
The problem with my steam version was, it did not update DirectX so i had to do it manually.
Also try to update/repair/install Microsoft Visual C++

I'm not sure but maybe this will help.

Thanks, is visual c updated the same way I would update direct X?

Yeah, its about the same.


Just Download it and run the .exe

When you do that it will :
a) install it
or
b) repair it

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

or if you're on a 64 bit machine:

Or you could try out your first idea first that you mentioned in another post :

Uninstall everything and install in the proper order.
Mabye that will do the trick too.

I guess I'll find out if the uninstall and reinstall will work now. When I tried to start a game, it wouldn't start at all, so I uninstalled everything.

I think that fix is when you get the message that the game is "unavailable at present please try again later."

Currently Unavailable

I think Sean Courtney is talking about the Steam version.
When you buy the game from Steam there is a Possibility steam will say EIC : "Currently Unavailable"

In that case you have to update your Microsoft Visual C++

Right now I am waiting to see what is going on with the designer's cut. I keep reeding in other threads and the bug area about all the problems, so I really don't want to screw everything up and have to de-install and re-install all over again.
