Runtime crashes

When playing East India Company, after downloading the Director's Cut patch, I save the game and then try to resume play by loading the saved game. At times the program crashes and I get a message: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unsual way. Contact the games team."

So what is the solution?

Having paid good money for the game; much improved with the patch, but very fustrating having these frequent crashes.

After a few activation problems, finally I was able to install the game. But as soon as I launch it, the program crashes and I get a message: "This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application support team..."

What can I do? I don't even have the possibility to download patches via the program since it doesn't launch.

Any help?
