I have followed the steps in game-wont-work-after-steam-update.1270589/ thread already.
<quote>
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add ck2game.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test</qoute>

I have now uninstalled and reinstalled not only CK2, but Steam itself.
I have also done the MS modules steps, not sure where to put the new DX files, they are currently in C DirectX folder. Is there somewhere these are supposed to be put instead?

When I try and run the CK2 exe from the Steam folder directly, I get a message that would would suggest the Visual c++ install is missing.

I have now done the DXDIAG run as well, attached (I hope).

I am at a complete loss, I have not added any mods to this game. I have launched it once, played a few years, and went and bought the full DLC offer and went to play again without luck.

Had previously done all 4 links from the other chain.

Redoing them now.
First one.

Still get the Play to Cancel and back to Play effect in Steam. The popup to launch does start and then stop.

And still getting the same system errors when trying to run it directly from the folder.

Do those two DLLs physically exist in these two folders?
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
C:\Windows\System32\

vcruntime140.dll found in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
msvcp140.dll also found in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\

I can see both in some sub folders of C:\Windows\System32\ but not in that top sub folder. Should it be there?

They should, yes, they are on mine.

The third link I posted about shuld install both. It has two files:
vc_redist.x64.exe
vc_redist.x86.exe

Did you run both?

Absolutely NOT! They are separate 64 and 32 bit versions, they are not interchangeable.

You could certainly try deleting them or moving them elsewhere then run the installers again.

Also do a system file check:

Okay, uninstalling and reinstalling both of those now.

Still not loading the game.

Still not loading the game.

You appear to not have used AndrewTs third link, which has the 2015 version that actually includes the x140.dlls.

PS: Posted before i could see your response to ellgm
