Save games crashing past a certain point? (Mac)

Hey all.

So my current save is in 2288, at war with a machine empire. I've hit a wall, as it seems every save beyond a certain point becomes corrupted and I get a CTD whenever I try to load it.

After further testing, I can confirm that this only happens on Mac; running my save on my old PC is no problem. So I'm at a loss.
