NA version should be SF = Strategy First(the publisher)

Since it has been marked known in the bug forum you will not get any further action there. Unfortunately a member who was trying to be helpful posted, and another mod changed the status, I could change it back but that would be bad ettetquet and it is better to deal with this here since the Bug forum is a "little" busy right now.

You could check the log in the save game, Find the name of the nation and then go back in the file to that nation and edit out puppet status, also in the nation that puppeted them. Might be a little complex if you are not fammiliar wit it.
So this sounds like it is probably cause by one of the major CTD bugs. Iwill leave this thread open for a while in case you have further comments or questions.
As far as the bug goes, this is a known issue and we are looking at it. The fact that the cause is know is good news for a possible fix.
