Last time I saved and quit the game the whole windows vista collapsed! Next time I tried to continue the saved game there were only empty slots in the load menu. I checked that those saved game files still exist in SaveGame folder in my user's directory (where the game normally stores those files).

Maybe those files are corrupted but is there any way to get them back to the load menu so that I could continue my game? (I have already played it quite a lot and it would be a bummer to lose it.)

Hi! Sounds like the index file for savegames was lost during the crash. The actual savegames may still be intact. Try the following:
1. Backup your save files (Documents/East India Company/SaveGame)
2. Start a new campaign and save the game to all slots.
3. Exit the game.
4. Copy your original save files (from the backup: save1.eic and so forth) over the new ones. Do not overwrite the file with a long name, just the save*.eic ones.
5. Start the game and try to load from some slot you previously used (even though the headers now show 1/1600 or something).

Great! I got it work! :D I guess the index file (the one with long name) was corrupted. I started a new campaign and that's how I got a new index file. Then I replaced the new game file with my old one.

Thanks for your help!
