savegame transfer

the savegame transfer is not working for me. i only get some strange letters in the lower left corne and nothing happens. i have to use the task manager to get out of the game.
my system:
p4 1,7 ghz
512mb ddr
gf4 ti4200 128mb
winxp
dsl 768/128

it even happens on my home lan (100mbit)

This might be a stupid answer, but are you sure that the strange symbols aren't the file downloading? I find that when I download a saved game, weird symbols flash next to my name in the lower left, and every so often blink a number, which is the percentage that it has downloaded so far.

Otherwise, you might be looping the file, where it downloads itself over and over again. I think I read that the looping is caused by the client already having a saved file with the same name as the file it is trying to download, but I haven't been able to find that thread. In my experience, it seems almost random, and if it happens the only thing to do is to send the file manually over email or icq.

I have hosted and am hosting games of HOI. By far the easiest method is just zip up the saved game files and send manually. Avoid the headaches, long upload times, etc.

Besides, the Host can apply the tech fix (using the app made for the purpose) then send the fixed file to all the players. This works very well. BTW I am hosting a 6 player game and this is a very clean, fast system.
