Hello Patric,

You might want to check the scenario's available now.
Some of these, like mine, should work fine with any language version, but when submitting a scenario, you can only indicate one language, which means that if a visitor checks on available scenario's for his language version he'll see less scenario's than he should.

Maybe it's an idea to allow multiple languages to be indicated when submitting a scenario?

Oranje, I second your motion. Any one that doesn't edit the text.csv file should be workable with other languages. We will need to discuss how to handle the situation where you create a scenario for multiple version with multiple text.csv files as well (as I will do with mine when I get the English version; to now it has been the German version).

EU scenario generator

For us non-hackers how in the world does this create a scenario? I tried to use it create one around the time of the Seven Years War and couldn't figure it out.

Tanone is working on a scenario editor. I have seen parts of it for editing provinces and the diplomaticmatrix and the first version (which didn´t work for me, cause I couldn´t load scenarios). But nevertheless, everything looks great and I think he will make the tool available when he´s ready. :)

I never answer on the generic question 'how to make a scenario'. Not because I want to keep that knowledge for myself, but because I would have to write nothing short of a little book to really answer this question. I´ve learned everything the 'hard way' by trial and error. And after all this time working on the IGC, I still don´t know all there is to know and almost daily learn new things...

I for one is looking forward to play the other language scenarios, The Indpenedence War, The Seven Years War and all what they're called....

To Patric

I think u will have a lot of usermade scenarios if u support us with some editor tool's, It's easy to make things wrong as it is now with editing the files.

And I realy want some information how the AI files works (the setting's) so I can try to get the AI to concentrate on what to do better (concentrate on right thing's) if it's possible(Russia and England for example).

One example : The warmonger value, does it stand for how aggresiv the country is only or is the (standing) size of army included in the value ?

New good custom scenarios need's to be supported with new AI files so at least the 'opening' moves from the AI is right done.

Even the best game can always be better....

This would definitely help us non-techie types who would like to try their hand at creating scenarios for this game.

I 2nd that sentiment! Making the scenarios easily extensible would make an already great game even more so. Personally, I'd rather concentrate on the historic details of scenario building than the bug-stomping fiddly bits. Looking forward to seeing the expansions in this direction.

Expansion pack!

Paradox could make expansion pack for EU, there could be scenario editor, timeline could be from 1100 to 1899... What else? I'd like to see more infantry units than just those faceless infantry, cavalry and cannons! Maybe also cossacks, grenadiers and some? And one must thing: experience for units! So if units win many battles against stronger enemies, they'll became better and better! I'd also like to have chance to name my own units!

But anyways, great thanks to makers of EU, it's one of the best games I've ever played! (others are BG 1&2, and Civ II, if someone's intrested ;)

This is true, and a scenario editor should not be too hard to slap together. Even I could write a decent one, but it would take me a couple of weeks to do it well. Besides, I hear Tanone is already working on one.

However, if you like the IGC, version 1.8 includes a utility to select playable nations. The new version of this utility (to be included in IGC 1.8b or 1.9) boasts the ability to disable/enable many of the most popularly demanded options. (A free Ireland, Holland, Norway, various COTs, etc).

I have often thought about making a scenario editor, and making a USER-FRIENDLY one would be a bit of a pain...but I think it would definitely be worth it. I hope Tanone does a good job with his, and I would be more than happy to help him if he would like it, depending on what language he is programming in...
