I have the proper NA 1.05 patch and the little fix file on a clean install. The scenario editor won't let me load saved games, nor does it save changes made to province resourse types (e.g. gold to wool). Do others have this problem as well?

do you have any modification installed, like the EEP for example?

No. I did make a couple modifications myself though- namely changing the tax_stab chart and turning off the unexpected invention random event...
Actually, I had played with the incomplete Ausie patch before and was the exact same story. I was sure to uninstall and start from scratch with the correct NA patch though, so I'm baffled as to what it could be.

I am puzzled and too tired to answer :D

I will have to try the scenario editor and see if I can reproduce this.

I might forget you (I'm sorry in advance  ), so bug me again in a couple of days if I don't post anything.

in the mean time, check for viruses with a recent AV software.

Here is the exact error when trying to load a saved game:
ERROR : (Province : Unexpected Field)' construction = {' Line = 922 file = C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Europa Universalis 2\Scenarios\Save Games\autosave.eug...

As I said before, there is no problem opening the grand campaign or other scenarios, just saved games. However, change mad to province resource type, at the least, do not "stick".

Thanks...

if you try with another save game, does it work?

Start a new GC, save it, open the file. What happens?

I was under the impression the scenario editor wasn't supposed to edit save games, just scenario's....

Also, I'm getting the same problem with different province resources not staying what I changed them to.

could very well be, I haven't checked it yet :D

from the readme file:
Troubleshooting
----------------

- The Scenario Editor refuses to start and displays an error message.

+ Make sure your graphics adapter is set to 16 bit color depth.

- The AI dialog for countries is disabled.

+ Yes, it was never finished. It might eventually get completed... someday.

- The map wraps around the edge of the screen when dragging the window there.

+ Yes, it is ugly, isn't it?

- The scenario I've edited won't load in the game or causes crashes and strangeness.

+ We've tried to eliminate as many possibilites for user errors as we can, but
it is still possible to do some illegal things in the editor. Try to check the
following:

* If you have changed the control but not ownership of a province, make
sure the owner and controller are also at war with each other.
* Check that all countries you've added have been given some territory.
* Check that all alliances and wars you have added actually have
participants.

Nope, no saved game will open. I guess I'm not the only one- maybe it is supposed to be that way. Can anyone else open saved games, or change province resources successfully?

maybe you should ask in the scenario forum; more people using it would be there?
