screen flicker

I'm having trouble playing EUII since there is too much flicker during gameplay. What I mean is that for half a second the whole screen goes black and the game screen comes back again. During the menu area it isn't as bad, but i can still see the cursor of my mouse disappearing and coming back over and over. Same thing goes to the opening trailor. Every no and then the dialogues disappear and reappear very quickly. And also when i start the game instead of the whole 'Europa Universalis II' loading screen i only see bottom half.

[I recently just patched the game to 1.07. The start up loading screen is much better now, but the flicker still exists.]

I have ATI 7500 for graphic card, 512 RAM, 80G 7200RPM Western Digital, and AMD 2200+.

Rename your AVI folder to AVI_back.

The biggest cause of screen flicker is other programs running in the back ground.

For example outlook, or MSN, or a virus checker ...

Heheh Castellon you remind me of one of those old grandpa's who spray windex on your elbows... Every support question I've been into you asked people to change AVI folder to AVI_back.

mines similar to youre problem, mine does this: first i double clikc on my icon to start the game.. then both intros come up, then after that where its in the loading screen, 3/4ths of the top is chopped off while its doing it, then when im in the main menu its back to normal from that ppoint on.. is this a bug? i've had this problem for a long time and its constant. ive already reinstalled too

And have you renamed/removed your AVI folder as our windex man says? Doesn't sound like it, since you're talking of 'intros'.

These two problems are totally different. The most likely cause is the AVI.

In the future please start your own thread rather than hijacking other threads, even if it seems to you that they are related.

thanks guys for all the help. Now the game isn't as bad as before, but there still exists a slight flicker during the game every 3 to 5 seconds. Oh well... it's not terribly bad, So i guess i'll just live with it. Thanks again guys.

You sure nothing is running in the back ground?

You may also want to change the refresh rate, or adjust the acceleration of your video card.

I was trying to avoid that at all costs, now it looks like I will have to see it to find out about the windex.
