OK, maybe a rather easy question, but have no idea how to fix this. Here goes:

At work I have a Notebook - Dell Precision (something). When I play HOI on the notebook it works fine, but when I am using my external monitor, the screen flickers a lot (I guess the refresh rate defaults to 60 Mhz or something on the external monitor. This happens only when I am playing HOI (never tested another game at work). All other applications like Word etc don't do this. Any idea of how to fix this?

Specs:

256 MB Ram
Intel Pentium Mobil CPU 1133MHz
DirectX 8.1
Windows2000

Graphic Card:
NVIDIA GeForce Geforce2 GO (Dell Mobile) 32 MB
Display Mode: 1024x768 (32Bit) 85Mhz
Main driver: rp32ntv1.dll
Version nr: 5.00.00.0065 (English)

(Running HOI with latest patch).

Here are a few things.
1. Make sure you have the latest drivers.
2. Turn down the graphics acceleration, you can experiment with this setting to see which one works.
3. Lower your refresh rate.

See this thread for reference, it also refrences another thread from within that one that may be helpful as well.

Good luck let me know what worked.

Glad it worked out for you.

Just remember to turn it back up if you play a FPS. ;)

I just installed 1.03b.

Before, with 1.03, 1280X12024 worked just fine.

Now, I can see a lot of flicker, and I suspect the refresh rate is set too low.

I'm running XP on custom hardware (desktop Abit motherboard w/ a P4 1.7) with a GeForce 3.

Is there a way to force the refresh higher? When I alt-tab back to the rest of my apps, I'm at 80htz, and it looks just fine (1600X1200).

The problem is you need to lower the refresh rate for HOI. See the second post in this thread (first one by me) for things to try.

Well that was the first suggestion. :)

Happy hunting!
