I never downloaded a 'custom skin' for HoI2? It just worked.

In fact, I used to play at 1680x1050 and it would work without any special skins.

From what I've heard, HoI2 just stretches your screen from a resolution, it doesn't modify your resolution based on your desktop one's or anything.

HoI2 never streched anything. You always had to use special skins for higher resolutions.

You're all so close :D

1) Thats how the game is rendered now. The menu's are all at 1024x768, the map is at your resolution
1.5) This means that in higher resolutions you will be able to see more of the map - try it if you have some super high resolution and compare what you see on each zoom level.

2) HOI2 is rendered in a constant resolution. Playing in full screen turned your monitor down to the native HOI2 resolution (800x600? I forget). There was no difference in how it was rendered other than it stretched the full screen. Playing windowed would show you how small the window really was :O

3) Custom skins expanded HOI2's resolution. You needed to edit the .exe to do this as well. This does not happen in AOD because AOD fits (most) resolutions.

Okay, so what I'm seeing is what is supposed to happen, and there are no custom skins to make it take up the whole screen - did I get that right? =)

Simply, go to gfx/skins, then choose the country you want to play (open the country folder), change the 3 files, with a graphic programm, to the resolution you desire....
