Screwed up Research Cost. Bug?

In my GC as Spain I've hit a problem. To research Land tech costs 8471 a level but Naval is just 847 i.e. 1/10th of the cost. They used to cost the same but now I'm racing ahead with the Naval tech level.
I could be wrong, but I think the cost dropped when I got a random event giving me a free Naval Equipment factory.
Look like a bug to me. Anyone else hit this?

FYI, I started the game as 1.07UK but upgraded to 1.07c 30 years or so into the game. The problem didn't occur till some 10 years later.

The prices do drop later a bit... a lot actually. There are some in both naval and military that require over 10000gc and the next one may be 500.

I think it is supposed to be that way

Is it possible to explain why? I was not very satisfied with my tech accomplishments because I was barely staying ahead of the opposition yet suddenly that 1 tech lead translates into a 15 tech lead because the price drops from 9000 to 600 and never rises above 2000 per level again. Going from a decade or more to research a single level to getting a level in under a year just seems bizarre.

Let's say you have just researched muskets and musketeers. After that come some minor breakthroughs. But first researching muskets and then equipping army with them and training troops etc will take much more money and time then researching/utilizing other techs. imho at least.

Research Costs

It would be nice to hear from Paradox about this. At 1605 I've reached Mil & Nav tech level 33 whilst the nearest rivals are on 10 or so. I see an occational Pirate with high tech ships, but besides that everyone else is very low tech. War is a doddle. It looks like a BIG bug to me as I would expect to be a few levels in front of my rivals, not 20! At the moment Mil costs 806 to increase which I can do in a year, surely there is a 0 missed off the end & it should be 8060??
