What are these numbers I've circled and why are they red? Thank you.

I can't say for sure why they are red (perhaps an indicator of some kind of overcrowding in from of too many in the battle?), but they tell the amount of planes being present in the battle on the carriers (top) and from nearby ports (bottom). The 1st figure in a row is probably current ones incuding losses, 2nd initial fugure at start of the battle.

Just chiming in, I don't think it's showing land/carrier aircraft, it's showing Naval Bombers and Fighters; look at the black plane icons to the right

Hmm, on...makes sense...I confused what probably is depicting a torpedo with the idea of it indicating the plane being land/ground based (and the symbol meaning "surface")
