I don't why but with the latest patch the number of senators in the senate doesn't appear on screen. It's only written 0 underneath each faction. Also the senators chairs do not change to there faction color and rather stay blank. This is really weird since it was working normally before I patched the game.

I found out it's not only a display problem since I cannot make any polticals actions with other countries since there's no senator to approuve them. Please help me out. This bug is making me mad.

We've had no other reports of this that I'm aware of. What version# and checksum are you getting after the patch?

I am playing on digital gold 2.32c downloaded on direct2drive. Where can I find the checksum? Before you ask me I have tried to reinstall et download again the game mutiple times, my video card driver is up to date and so is Xp.

I found out two other things that can be part of this bug. First, the babarian horde don’t seems to spwan properly. In fact only horde of 0 or 1 will spwan. Also, (but I am not sure about this one) getting loyal soldiers seems impossible or at least extremly hard. I guest my problem is that I have a missing file that the lastest version need to calculate variables and withtout it variables are set to 0 or are glich. But as I said I play with the gold version only ( without the patch ) those bug don’t seem to occur. I am guessing the older version used different files to calculate the variables.

The checksum is on the main game menu, but for some people it's off the screen. You can also see it in MP is you start a fresh game as a host.

My senate is 0/99 people, factions are all at zero strength, and I'm completely unable to do any diplomatic actions etc.

I have the D2D version too, and my game says it's 2.2 at the main menu screen, checksum CGGA. Did you maybe give D2D the wrong exe, or did they by themselves find an old one to use? They took 4 months to release their 2.32 and it's broooooken. I can't apply the official patch because it just whines "BAWWWW GAME NOT INSTALLED", would be great if you could tell us the necessary reg keys or so to let us install the patch.

In what way is the D2D 2.32c patch broken? But no, we didn't give them the wrong one; as you can see Armita got it installed and working (this issue aside). If it shows 2.32c as he says then it is fine, as long as the checksum is SWBL. You seeing 2.2 means that even D2D's 2.32c patch has not applied at all. Is that what you mean by broken, that it won't install? What exactly happens?

I run EURomeGold_2.32_ddsetup.exe and end up with a RomeGame.exe from May 2010 and a Rome.exe & Readme.txt from July 2010.
If I run EURomeGold_2.2_ddsetup.exe, I get a RomeGame.exe with the same date, and a Rome.exe with a 2009 date.
If I first delete my RomeGame.exe before running either patch, I get a "romegame.exe" (lowercase) with the exact same size & date. So the issue is not that it doesn't properly overwrite the file, either.

And no, Armita didn't confirm that the *main menu* showed the right version or checksum.

P.S.: I now tried downloading EURomeGold_2.32_ddsetup.exe from two additional sources (=> fileplanet via direct2drive website, patches-scrolls, code5), they're all the same file. So my version is the (only) one available and I don't have the wrong file.

After some further research, it seems everything else than the exe at least is identical (compared single-file checksums with a friend).

So to summarise, the D2D patches do apply, they do output files, the files end up in the right place, the exe unpacked by the D2D patch is just the wrong one for the 2.32 patch - it's the 2.2 exe file. Everything besides that is a-okay.

I see, that certainly looks like D2D have packaged the wrong .exe somehow. I will point out for you that the right one is in http://www.paradoxplaza.com/in-game/eurome/vv_232.exe if you can find a way of extracting it from the .exe installer; that aside all I can suggest is to log a support ticket with D2D to alert them to their mistake. In my Gamersgate copy of 2.32c rome.exe is 20/7/2010 and romegame.exe is 19/7/2010 , FYI.

Are you sure it's exactly the same problem? 2.32 from D2D installs an old version of romegame.exe? If so you need to do the same; log a ticket with them.

I logged a ticket and they responded with something along the lines of "contact the game maker" but I have clearified my problem so hopefully they will fix it. By the way, why are the versions not compatible depending on who you buy the game from?

The game itself is the same. But each vendor must release their own version of each patch as they each have their own installer - which in turn is because they use different registry entries to record where the game is installed and what version it is currently up to, and potentially their own DRM (eg in the case of Steam).

I kept getting the run around from D2D so I just bought the game from another vendor which already had an updated version. I acutally had to buy the game three times once from D2D then from greenman but ran into the same problem so I had to purchase it a third time from Stardock games and they got it right.

Jeez, what dedication! I'm really sorry you had to go through all that. I use Gamersgate and have never had the slightest problem.

Yet another ticket later:

As soon as we receive a new patch from the developers, we'll be happy to put it up on our site. In the meantime, we have tested the patch and it does work. If you're experiencing problems with it, then please contact their support.

(just ignoring what I wrote him, ofc)

Was this ever rectified or do Paradox still not care that D2D took a century to cough up a *wrong* patch?

(And apparently Green Man Gaming also has the wrong patch/version, judging by jzdunek's post)
