Dear Paradoxians,

I am playing your games since Hoi 1 and really love them, but one thing which is driving me crazy since then is that the space bar is used for pause and unpause. I don't know how many thousands of years have been running at full speed because I hit the space key in just the moment at an event was popping up which itself was pausing the game, so that my space was unpausing the game instead of stopping it.

So I think a separate key which would only pause but not unpause the game would be a big quality of life improvement, at least for me.

This is a good idea. Also because I set certain things to autopause (usually tech level ups or certain types of battles ending), but then instinctually press space when a popup comes up, which unpauses my game since it was set to autopause. There should be ingame options to have the current system, or to designate separate keys (or a combo).

Also while you're at it plz put back in message/autopause settings for Hoi4, and all future games. I don't want to have to listen to the game's sound effects or look at some obscure indicator to notice I'm being invaded and killed to death in a naval battle/invasion that's happening somewhere I'm not looking.

This thing irritated me so much in Stellaris that events would autopause and then autounpause as well. I just wanted to have a bit of time to check the effects of the events as well without the game running. It was truly confusing and frustrating.

I had in Vic2 this problem as well. I fixed it by changing the message setting so the message wouldn't pause the game anymore.

In CK2 I never had it because for some reason I can't even unpause while pop up is there.

The reason they rightfully took out the ability to continue playing the game while event messages are open is because before, you could get an event that affected you negatively, and you could keep the game running while you sort things out. So you might get an event that says "A snake assassin kills you!" and you could just continue playing the game for a few months without acknowledging it, meanwhile you were able to abuse the game by setting everything up to have an easy inheritance.
