I'm not sure if this is actually a bug, but it's intensely annoying.

I was playing the Age of Enlightenment scenario as England - or would that be Great Britain by this point? Anyway, this scenario starts with Austria leading an alliance with England, the Netherlands, and Brandenburg against a French-Spanish-Bavarian coalition. (Plus a couple more German minors on each side).

After a couple of years the Netherlands took some money and quit the war. I figured Austria would be looking to wrap things up soon too, so I decided to get whatever I could grab. Marlborough had just taken Hainault, and the Spanish offered it up for a separate peace. I figured that was fine with me, since I was more interested in thrashing France. So I took the deal.

This ended my war with Spain. It also ended my co-belligerency with the Austrian alliance. We were all still at war with France, and all still allies; we just weren't at war *together*. This meant that I couldn't enter Austrian or Branderburger territory anymore - so Marlborough and his army were trapped in Hainault for the rest of the war. And I couldn't prevent France from thrashing Brandenburg.

I was not pleased. Especially since there isn't any way to reactivate the alliance except by starting a new war.

Yes, the lack of access when not involved in the same war as allies is definitely a strange thing. In a previous game I had to declare war on Turkey (who held Mantua) just to get access through Helvetia to a rebel-controlled Milan, before it declared independence from my France. Very annoying.

Other times I declare war on someone who's already at war with a third party, yet despite having conquered every province of my enemy's, I cannot annex them as they still control one province owned by the third power. I can't liberate the province for that country, and annex my enemy, short of waiting for the third power to retake the province.

You have just broken your word to the other countires in the alliance and made a separate peace with the enemy. Thus they are treating you as the worthless yellow scum that you are.
If you look you will see that Austria even has a temp CB on you for your behaviour.
If this bothers you, don't breake the alliance ...
