What do people think of this idea? "Sequential EU"

Playing multiplayer on the one savegame, passed by email (almost turn based you could say).

Eg (say 3 players Spain, France & England)

Player A plays Spain for 5 years, sends save game to B
Player B plays France for 5 years, sends save game to C
Player C plays England for 5 years, sends save game to A

The advantages would be:

1) You could play multiplayer against international opponents without difficulty of matching timezones etc
2) A certain realism in that countries would presumably have 'golden ages' when player in charge * also certain wars would be more historical (in above example france/spain stalemate)

What would be the best length of time 1,2,5, 10 years? (depends on number of players, possibly 5 years because peace treaty length would penalise multiple attacks on an opponent)

What would be best aggression, perhaps "reduced aggression" to prevent AI from wasting resources?

Fairly indifferent, actually.

Hmmnn, probably 5 years.

Probably, maybe each person could design their own ai 'regent', soi they couldn' t complain.

Actually that sounds like an interesting idea. I would be up for it if you need someone to give it a try. I have another friend who would probably try it. Probably 10 years would be good. This would give you some time to actually get something done with your country.
Drop me a line @ theliffords@home.com or icq 116037804 if you want to try it.

This other fellow also came up with a good idea when playing MP. Every new session (or crash) randomly change countries. This might give the world conquerors pause when crushing enemy nations as they might have to play them themselves in the future or have to deal with another player controlling their former nation.
It would be a nice change and could keep the game interesting. I tend to play this way solitare myself. I build one country into a powerhouse then play a nation in trouble and try to fix them up.

We use v 1.09 / igc 2.3 btw. I like to play on Very hard, aggresive myself with Chaos Hurts.
Perhaps we could also try one with some of the med powers... something to consider too if you would like to get multiple games going :)

yeah i saw that thread, thats what made me bring this topic up again
ok. we'll try, talk more soon
very hard is the only way
i personally use tax of 1.3,1.2,1.1,1.0,0.9,0.8,0.7 - more symetrical, but I'm easy on this issue
I'm going to have a closer look at the monarchs, maybe we could preplan the turn sequence so that we each get the first 10 years of our nations monarchs, even if it means a few years more or less over 10, what nation?

Sounds good. I'm not sure what you mean by the tax settings though  Care to explain :)
If we're going to try this we should get that fellow's monarch patch so we don't lose all the events when we reload the saved games... I'll try to find the thread.
I'm easy on the length. I'll leave that up to you.

As for country's, we should try to group them in the same area. West: Spain, France, England East: Austria, PL, Turkey, Russia, Sweden, Hungary

For a Minors Campaign maybe Brandenburg, Venice, Denmark, Saxony, Tuetonic Order, Papal States, Saxony,

Just a few ideas to kick around

(BTW I have MSN too. The nickname is davelifford@hotmail.com)

I second this idea.

eh, what, you want in? i've sent you an icq.

I was referring to the stability/tax setting i use, it's reasonably harsh, but more important to me creates a nice bell curve.

Stab+3 x1.3 income
Stab+2 x1.2
Stab+1 x1.1
Stab+0 x1.0
Stab-1 x0.9
Stab-2 x0.8
Stab-3 x0.7
