As the title may suggest this topic is about how to change the sex of a character via save game editing. So far I have worked out several things, and I want to check I have overlooked nothing.
1. The sex tag in the character information is the big decider, by changing this you change the characters sex, even if they still have the wrong kind of name.
2. On changing the sex tag the DAN, portrait info etc will remain the same and keep functioning. The resemblance to the victim's parents will remain, so that dynastic look will continue. On testing my strapping young king turned into a dainty young lady who looked a lot like his mother, and all I did was swap the male tag for a female one.
3. Changing the name is entirely optional! Leaving the subject's name intact appears to do nothing, so Henry could be the name for this years ladies.
4. If you want to swap someone's sex you should do it before they get married, otherwise they remain married and the middle ages weren't that permissive. In the event of your chosen victim being married there must be some way to remove the married status without leaving a dead, same sex spouse hanging about...
So, aside from the spouse issue, is this likely to throw up any problems? I have plans for a dynasty of queens, it's a complex plan that boils down to giving a female character a title of your choice, saving and quitting the game, loading up as your female character and ruling the heck out of your dynasty. By modding the "strapping youth" event to fire more frequently (say at least twice as often) you will be able to have children without marrying and losing your family name. Assuming one of those children is a boy you have an heir, who you will keep close at home and away from anyone who may want to marry the poor boy. When your current queen dies your son takes over, immediately pause and quit, edit him to a her, et voila! If you repeat that in each generation you should be able to play as a bunch of queens.
I am mostly toying with this out of idle curiosity to see if it is possible, it is a rather precarious plan since you only have about 20 years to get a suitable, surviving heir and you only have the one chance – no spouse murdering is possible. Also the event will probably only fire about 3 times, maybe even less and bastards don’t have high ability scores.
