Well, after my first AAR died within half a decade, let's try this again. It can't possibly go any worse, right? (Don't answer that, please.)

This time, my starter county is Hadramawt, a mountainous little speck in southern Arabia. Normally, I'd have some restrictions on myself to avoid the overpowered abilities, but as I'm still too new to know what to avoid, I'll just play and see what develops.

So, let's get started, shall we?

Chapter 0: Starting Off Slow
Chieftain Shujah
January 1, 867

Hadramawt isn't exactly Constantinople, but I feel certain that under my leadership, it will prosper. I have no problem waiting for gold to come my way- or anything else, for that matter. The problem is, the imams think I should devote less of my time to money and more to spiritual pursuits. Oh, well.

When I'm not focusing on my purse, I spend most of my time designing new rooms for my hall. I've got a few interesting plans, but I'll need more money to put them into action.

While I don't have the best skills myself, my council is more than able to make up the slack. They will be my secret weapons as I attempt to advance myself to glory. Sure aren't any awful assistants here!

Try, try again.

Let us hope Hadramaut can rise!

Subbed...

Good luck!

Chapter 1: Friends in High Places
Chieftain Shujah
January 1, 867- June 8, 872

It's been a somewhat rocky road, but I have made some advances, both in territory and in family. A war for Kindah Salah initially went poorly, but the arrival of some of my allies saw a turn in the wind. Still, the price of calling them in was higher than I would have hoped or liked.

The Ibadi religion, meanwhile, is not in good shape. We only hold one of our holy sites, and with the priests hating my guts, I doubt I will be able to advance my piety enough to take real advantage of it.

Back home I had twin sons born to me, a welcome addition to the family. May the little ones grow up to be healthy and strong, and serve their elder brothers well. Too many sons is starting to become a threat to the succession, though- would that I had a daughter or two to marry off...

So far so good.

If at first you don't succeed.

My most successful game in CK3 so far (success defined by how long I played it) was across the Red Sea in Somalia. I think a part of the map that has a lot of potential

Ah, the course of many sons.

Yes, the more sons you have, the more strife will occur after your death.

Chapter 2: Climbing the Ladder
Emir Shujah
June 8, 872, January 1, 878

It seems fate has far more in store for me than being a mere chief after all. I was able to crown myself Emir of Hadramawt in a grand ceremony, with all my courtiers and the peasantry alike in attendance. It had been a long time since the people had seen something like that, and it put me on fair standing with the other local lords.

The military fronts continued the good news as well, as my forces conquered Al-As'a'. A third county has been added to my holdings, though it in particular is poor.

Economic matters have not been neglected either. The first new building Hadramawt has seen in many years has begun construction, a brand-new open-air market. Between this and my new title, I should have plenty of resources for future buildings and man-at-arms regiments. All seems to be going well, so far.

Chapter 3: The Money Flows
Emir Shujah
January 1, 878-January 1 885

The realm is growing fast. The money from the market has come in so quickly that it had to expand, with new areas for merchants and extra taxes only adding to my treasury. It seems that the gold is beginning to snowball.

In addition, Mahra has fallen into my lap. With three counties to one, it was an easy victory. But the realms to the east are growing quickly as well. A showdown looms, and the winner shall be king of all Yemen...

Definitely making a place for yourself in this world.

You seem to be doing well. Will you become the Sultan of Yemen? I suppose I will have to stay tuned...

Uh oh...

Well, that was ominous...

Chapter 5: Another Implosion
High Chief Aram of Hadramawt
March 3rd 887- July 15 888

It seems the Shujahid are to be consigned to history's dustbin. The Emir of Jawf Al-Yamani came for my lands, with the whole bloody Tulunid Sultanate at his call. 4600 men against 1500- I never stood a chance. Another holy war was delared for Al-As'a once I was weakened, taking the last of my holdings. It was never meant to be, I fear...

So... this AAR ends with a dynasty's downfall?
