I have no problem with cadet branches, but in administrative governments where every noble house has its own estate, growing family, and courtiers, it has a notable impact on performance. Not to mention that cadet branches can themselves create cadet branches, which only exacerbates the problem.

I was wondering if cadet branches in administrative realms should get the clan government treatment? Meaning that a character with an administrative government needs to be independent for them to create a cadet branch.

I feel like limiting it to powerful families only might be a good idea since it would actually help to limit their power and influence while allowing for cadet branches to happen since there are some in the Byzantine empire’s history.

This effects everyone, not just admin but... this is a bit of code I've used if you don't play ironman and don't mind messing around in the files.
dynasty = { dynasty_prestige_level >= 3 }

Not regularly a parameter for cadets, this adds that a dynasty must first reach a dynasty prestige level (splendor) of 3 or greater before any are allowed to create a cadet. So any brand new dynasties will have to be around long enough for their families to to get enough dynasty prestige. I believe 3 is Noteworthy so not too high, but keeps lots of small dynasties from creating cadets. Raising the number to 4 or 5 would be even more restricting for them, and only old dynasties would be making cadets.

You mean, administrative government as in the government type of Byzanine Empire that we got with the dlc that primarily focused on BE and cadet houses such as houses Tornikes and Taronites, both prominent families in BE and both cadets of Bagrats? I think the question kind of answers itself, don’t you think? With so many people using so many family names that belonged to their mothers, wives, grandmothers on both sides or even great grandmothers, if anything it should be made much easier (and cadet namingwshould follow some specific rules )
