Time for another thread, this time about game rules. Currently we have mods that add a lot more game rules to the game, some of which are experimental. Do you think these should be part of the base game? And are there any game rules you are missing in general?
To start off:
1. I think it would be great if we had a historical game rule setup that would give you all other game rules in its most historical version. For instance in this version Byzantium is always called the eastern roman empire, the winning of England is determined to be William the Conqueror and the ruler of Connacht is Toirdelbach. The main advantage for players is that they would not have to research what the most historical version of each game rule is.
I'd then rename the current setup to game rules either to "gameplay first" or "base", as this is the set of gamerules that paradox advices you to play with.
2. In more game rules (the mod) matrilineal marriages can be disabled. I think that a feature like this would also be great for the base game, esp if its a bit more nuanced so materilineal marriages can still happen where that was historical appropriate (or its unlocked through a cultural tradition like visigothic codes). It would certainly add a more harder experience to the game, while not requiring a lot of effort to implement (I assume atleast), as you can still game over like usual.
3. I would love a game rule that lets me customize which empires can be formed on a case-to-case basis. In the more game modes mod you can do this for all empires at once, this would let you pick each empire.
4. I would also love a historical option for duchies, kingdoms and empires in general. This would disable the new create duchy and kingdom feature, only keep historical kingdom's and empires that existed in the period, roughly and/or almost did.
