I just have a simple and innocent question for Paradox, in the add for the CK2 the shield the man is holding says "Desdichado", did you guys intended it to say that? By the way is not a complaint, its just curiosity.

Probably a reference too Ivanhoe.

That's the way it's looking, Desdichado - The Dis-Inherited Knight (watching it on YouTube atm). Never seen it before so looks like I'll be doing some googling.

Edit: One particular thing I really found interesting ---
Quote from wiki
"One inaccuracy in Ivanhoe created a new name in the English language: Cedric. The original Saxon name is Cerdic but Sir Walter (Scott - Author) mis-spelled it.."

It "is" the coat of arms of Ivanhoe. :)

Interesting, I had no idea about the Ivanhoe reference, or the Cedric/Cerdic thing.

That won't be the final box art. It's absurdly bland.

Austen

The old Boxshot was somehow more "heroic" than this blond noob-kid ;)

It's how I imagine 17 year old Arn Magnusson looks in the Crusades Trilogy (fantastic Swedish novels for those who haven't read them). And Arn was most definitely heroic.

Agreed, fits the image i have in my head too :p
(And yeah, it's most definiatly a recommendable book series.)

I like the coat of arms as well. The box art generally looks pretty good. They've got a good-looking castle in the background with a force (apparently Templars) fighting someone out in front of it.

However, they're defiantly going to have to do something about the pristine condition of the kid's armor in the heat of battle; not to mention his face, he looks twelve. Maybe they could put a helmet on him, one of the ones which covers his whole face :D Also, he seems to be fleeing the battle which is going on behind him... What kind of Crusader King would do that!?

Jeez,, I've looked at that box art a dozen times and I just now see the Horse he's riding (Capt Obvious I'm not).

Okay, the horse looks believable, with it's forlock flying back, it's giving the impression it's in motion, but the kid's hair just isn't right. Too much air-spray that morning I guess. lol

Edit: I sat here for 10 minutes, trying to figure out why my last sentence didn't look right,, finally saw it.. should be HAIR-spray.. sorry

Your right. The kid's tunic and the belt on his shoulder are also drawn to suggest he is moving quickly, but his hair looks like its totally stationary.

Nah, that's a healthy coating of good old Medieval dirt!:D

In a feudal world, a boy holding a shield with a text "Desdichado" ("Disinherited One"*) is almost as far as one can be from the (crusader) king. (It almost suggests that courtiers might be playable in CK2...) But very neat artwork though.

* Means also "Unhappy", so maybe he's just depressed...
