I wonder how similar this will be to Amplitude's Endless Legend. One of my concerns with the AoW franchise is that you never become invested in the land you are exploring...its just another random map..Endless Legend addressed this by using a world already rich with lore from a previous game and throwing in a seasons mechanic woven into the endgame.

I would argue a lot of AoW success was based on repeat customerage from prior titles..sure that will help sales but will the players appreciate/want a Warhammer Light? In not sure the genre can be switched back and forth with a change of the sprite.

Was the idea to scifi Aow tested with any customers?

i dont get that post.
Aow hat deep rpg mechanics. Endless legend basic strategy. I think you overplay endless legend. The Cool element of endles legend is the quest / story mechanic. "I would argue a lot of AoW success was based on repeat customerage from prior titles." isnt that the endless ... system. both have limited units same tech system. Its the same principal ressources and stats. I know many ppl love endles series i am more meh. Same goes for age of wonders maybe on a sale. I am interested in the further development, like i was in endles legend.

the scifi setting will be no revolution. You have instead of fireballs plasma launcher. Instead of spells to make your land fertile you will use bots.
