Since Cosmic Storms, getting a split black/white screen, off and on, during loading.

So, whenever the game is loading, either starting up, or when loading a game, I get this split black/white screen, which flashes up, stays up for a second or two, then flashes back to whatever loading wallpaper was there. It happens maybe 2 or 3 times, whenever something is loading. It's a bit annoying, but other than that, it hasn't resulted in anything else bad as far as I can tell.

This started happening after Cosmic Storms was released and downloaded. I've verified the install on Steam, and it checks out fine each time. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet. My download speed is pretty poor, so I was saving that as a last resort.

Anyone having this issue, or know what I should try doing at this point?

First move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races. Then manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders.

THEN Right-click on stellaris.exe, properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullscreen optimizations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply, and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select the fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.


If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here. IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up. Thanks.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

So, by the by, simply the step of "Disable Fullscreen Optimizations" resolved this problem for me (didn't need to do anything else). Thanks AndrewT for this.
