Hi there!

I'm trying to add art deco highrisers in order to have a more historical looking American city. I've found some in the 3D Warehouse, now I only need a good tutorial on how to import from Sketchup to Blender. Any advise?

Thanks!

search the forum
download from 3d warehouse as KMZ and rename it to extension ".zip" ---> unzip to get model in dae format ---> import that to blender
That what I been doing, but stuck when it come to texturing. Sketchup will have multiple material come with the model
You will need to figure out how to pack all those texture in to one map.

If you have any idea how to do that please share

If you can help it, do not use models from the 3D warehouse unless you know how to inspect them thoroughly and do the necessary cleaning up. Just like many authors on the Steam Workshop, the Warehouse is full of very bad models. The most common thing to look for is front and back faces not set properly.

Go through this course for Blender....you wont regret it http://gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html

Thanks!

I've noticed the 3D warehouse is full of bad stuff, but it seemed like a very easy shortcut. Turns out it's not. Better to make your own models from scratch!

Thanks for the course too!
