Long-time Paradox fan, first-time poster.

Just got Rome Gold, loaded it up and patched with VV 2.2. Gameplay looks phenomenal.

But the performance is slow--a lag of a second or two on rollover text and whenever clicking a province, troop, or menu button. It's playable, but the delays are a cumulative annoyance.

My machine meets the system requirements, but only barely. (Relevant DXDIAG info pasted below).

What I've tried:

Updated video card driver--seemed like a slight improvement.

Boosted virtual memory maximum level--maybe a slight improvement.

Has anyone in a similar situation found any tweaks to speed things up?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have--and please let me know if I've omitted any pertinent information.

Both system memory and video card speed are contributing to your problems. Easiest move would be to double your system ram to 1gb, then get a new video card. Or simply a new PC :)
