Slow scroll speed and erratic mouse movement.

When running the game in 1280 x 1024 the mouse movement is erratic (jumpy, and not smooth moving) and the scroll speed is very slow. The game runs as expected in 800x600 though.

PIII 1ghz
256MB RAM
AT Radeon 64MB DDR ViVo Video card

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the link. I am running the mouse cursor in hardware mode now (I think) - Still no improvement when running in 1280x1024.

What kind of mouse is it, and do you have it's proper driver installed for it or a windows standard driver?

Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical

I was using the standard Windows XP drivers and updated to the latest Logitech ones. Same symptoms with both.

Hmm... strange.

Another couple of questions if you don't mind:

1) Do you suffer this problem in any other game/application?

2) What revision ATI display drivers are you running, and are they the latest one?

1) No, I have not had this particular problem in any other game.

2) 6.13.10.6200 - I downloaded them last week.

Lets take care of the obvious first:
Your batteries are okay?
Try a different chanel.
Also try the mouse diagnostic program.

Keeping in mind I am not experiencing mouse issues in other applications/games.… I removed the cordless/optical mouse from the equation. I hooked up a standard mouse with ball. Same issue.

I suppose I will just have to run at 800x600 – though it looks really terrible on a 17 inch LCD.

It sounds like a performance issue rather than a problem with your mouse. Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers. Try turning down hardware acceleration for your video and sound cards. Run dxdiag and see if it flags any errors.
