Could someone please explain to me why the **** I can barely run Hearts of Iron 2 or Doomsday? There has to be an explaination and I don't want to hear I need my computer upgraded. My computer completely beats the ****ing shit out of both the minimal and recommended requirements for this game. I shouldn't be getting some craptaculur FPS like 15 when running the game on extremely fast... Paradox simply has no excuse. Either the guy who did the requirements was smoking some major stuff or there are some major memory leaks in this game.

I already moved/deleted the music folder. That did a few things to improve frames... but the game is still unplayable. Hell my older computer (which was slightly above the recommended requirements) was capable of getting to the end of the game (1945 Hoi2) in only 6 hours. This computer however, it takes nearly 6 or more hours just to get to the brink of war...... As my brother would say "****ing stupid".

I am under the conclusion that Paradox has done nothing to try to solve poor framerate issues..... I seriously need a solution right now.. and I don't mean digging up an OLDER INFERIOR computer to run this game more smoothly....

Anyone want to dig up their N64 to run a Gamecube game? Or how about getting Call of Duty 2 to work on the xbox?

.............. I really want to play this game... I like the genre... but I find it absolutely ridicilous that the game is unplayable.. yet you rush out these ''recommended specifications'' that would probably result in an even more VERY unplayable experience.

Paradox I really want an answer... are you atleast trying to fix the framerate and speed issues associated with Hearts of Iron 2? Or are you going to cheat it out and let the problem rest on the modder community?

Yeah that's right... No fucking response..

Sigh... Paradox learn to make games.... and make sure they freakin' work too.

Having HOI2 run this slow is like having Master of Orion 2 running at 18 FPS on machines today.... simply a disgrace

I'm not tech support....but try this trick that I used to use with Victoria on my old computer (should apply to HOI2 as well) and see if you notice a difference - it might make it a little more playable in the meantime before someone can really help you with your problem.

There could also be some spyware or something hogging your system resources...try running a cleaner to check that and examine your startup processes. It might also be your video drivers slowing it down somehow, and maybe reverting to older drivers would fix the problem...that's all I can think of atm.

Wait so Newer and Better video drivers makes games run worse! Oh that sounds brillent!

I don't think it's spyware man. I tried playing Hoi2 right after my computer was reformatted 3 times, still ran like shit.
I am getting a new computer soon (not because of Hoi2). I am going to be able to run Oblivion at 50 FPS with all the highest settings.. I swear to god if Hoi2 still acts like hell with an Intel Core Duo, 2 gig Ram, and a top of the line video card. I am going to throw it out of the window and never buy a Paradox game again.

Yeah. I've got no idea why, but i've noticed similar problems going all the way back since Direct X 5.0 came out - they'll add new things that screw up older games - and not just Paradox ones. For example, I think the thread I linked you to mentions that Panzer General 3 doesn't work with DirectX 9.0...and it's not the only game, either, I have heaps of problems when I dig out old games from my collection.

But since HOI2 is a pretty new game, it's probably not DirectX 9.0c alone (well, I use it, and it runs fine, so...), it could be one of your drivers together with it....or then again, it might be something else entirely. But there's other stuff you can try....turning down the sound and video acceleration levels temporarily before starting the game and see if that improves anything. It's a pain in the arse, but if one of those fixes the problem then at least you'll know what's causing it.

Oh, and what Windows version are you running?

Oh, okay.

I'd wager that it'd run fine on a different computer. I hope so, anyway, because you'd be missing out :p

Actually, that trick edited the terrain mapmode in Vicky to look like the terrain mapmode in HoI2, so don't expect a miracle cure there.
