hey, i have a problem...on my last computer i had win 2000 and EU2 worked nicely, but now i have a new computer and it has win xp...the problem is that, when i choose the scenario and a country and press "start", then it sends a error report...i downloaded the 1.08 patch, because i thinked that it will help, but it didn't...so can't i play it on win xp or plz tell me what to do... :(

You probably need to ask this in the technical support forum, not the bug reporting forum. Perhaps a kindly mod will move it for you. :)

I seem to remember the latest version of DirectX is 9.0b or something, but Castellon will be along in a while with some detailed instructions on working out what the problem is.

Certainly before he turns up, you should try renaming your the "avi" folder in your EU2 directory to "avi_back" or something similar, so the avi introduction files don't play, then try running EU2. This has been a problem for some people.

No problem. That's usually first or second on Castellon's advice list. I'm not sure why I didn't say that first, to be honest. :)

Now you know why it is one of the first things I have people try, even after they assure me, "No it could have nothing to do with the intro videos, they play just fine, you are an incompetant moron and should be fired, for even suggesting it." :D

Doesn't the AVI problem under XP usually disappear if people have Service Pack 1 installed?

No! Only sometimes.
