I definately prefer Victoria over EU2 or HOI2, but I've given EU2 a try just so that I can have some Vicky games spiced up with a-historical occurances.

I was wondering how good the converter is at giving me a fun gave of Victoria once I'm done EU2.

I know there's no events, which is unfortunate but understandable, but what I'm really wondering is how well nations themselves convert. For example, I heard one person played as Burgundy and ended up, after conversion, as France, an I was wondering if, for instance, as The Palatinate I would just be converted into Germany, which would be awkward, unwieldly and undesirable.

Does anyone here have any personal experiences with the converter they could share with me?

I haven't actually played a converted game, just converted it to see what it looked like in Vicky out of curiosity. The games I converted were one as UK where I had held on to all of France in the HYW, one as Sweden where I had made the Baltic into a Mare Nostrum, and one as Prussia with all of Germany conquered. What bothered me most was the fact that almost all European nations where ridiculously behind in techs, but this is not a flaw of the converter.

you can only continue through as countries that exist in victoria, otherwise it'll convert them, you could probably get by by modding the palatinate in if you wanted. Or play a german state that does still exist in victoria.

I wonder what happens if all the german states exist when you convert to HOI2? they can't all be germany

Actually they do all convert to germany.

I played a game off a conversion once, my huge English empire was so large that in victoria it was almost too easy, as there was no France or USA.

But there are 3 versions of Germany in HOI2: Nazi, West germany and East Germany. The converter could convert, say, Prussia to Nazi Germany, Bavaria to West Germany and, say, Pommeranian to East Germany ... or convert to one or other depending of politics. I had to mod a ultraliberal Germany (with Hitler as HOS  ) to a nazionalsocialist Germany in my game as Byzantium

Same could go for Spain or even China (rebels as commie China maybe?)

Seems that there are 2 versions of the converter, the official and another unofficial. The one I use (unofficial) has events to simulate 1820-1836 independeces in South America and some events to add cores to some mayors and ensure they can at least try conquer their historical provinces. It's a moddable converter and I'm pretty sure that you can, say, mod the converter to make Bavaria become FDR or Mecklemburg become DDR and so leave Nazi Germany to Prussia

By the way, games with the converter that I use have the same events as vanilla vicky... some of them fire and some others don't (because some countries are not there, etc). I had sinking of the Maine and Meiji Restoration but I had not ACW or Franco-Prussian war. I played as Byzantium (Greece with config file modded to change the name) and ended 5th, being civilized China the 1st (and they civilized late 1890's). It was a great game
