First, I would like to thank the tech support folks who were able to get EUII running and determining where the problem was (my Yamaha DS-XG PCI Audio CODEC card). The game has run smoothly with only one crash to desktop in about 20+ hours of playing. The only problem is the complete lack of sound. I have to disable the sound card to get the game to run. Will the next patch address my sound card problem???

That would be Strategy First who helped you. As much as I like when someone thanks me, I have no credit since you never posted here :D

Ok. Sound card problem. Well, I cannot say if it will be fixes in a upcoming patch, nor can I say if Paradox is even aware of it.

However, I am willing to help you and try to have the game working with you current sound card.

There is another thread running called "Sound stops working". I gave a few suggestions there and you can try them, as well as those in the stikcy thread "Running problems".

It would help to know your complete configuration, like it is is mentionned at the bottom of the sticky thread. Then I will be able to search Microsoft and Yamaha's web site to see if they have issues similar to your problem (conflict with the copy protection software would be my guess).

There is also a possibility it could be an IRQ conflict with your card and you cd-rom, that's why I need to know everything :)

Viper,

I am running the game on a Dell Dimension XPS T500, pentium III 500mhz machine, with 128mb Ram, Nvidia Riva TNT video card, Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1202 DVD drive, Yamaha DS-X6 PCI audio CODEC, and an Iomega Zip 100 drive (not used for the game). As soon as I disable the Yamaha sound card in COntrol Panel/System, the game works fine. I have only had two crashes to desktop in 3 days.
Something that might help. When I started the game before disabling the sound card, the sound skipped during the start up sequence (2-3 second delay) and then when the game locked up, the sound would lock up as well/keep repreating the same sound. The only way I could get out of the lock-up was to soft boot the computer.

I've checked Toshiba's web site and there is no specific driver (like I expected since it's usually handled by Windows) and there were no firmware upgrade either.

I have checked Yamaha's web site, but couldn't find your particular sound card. Divers are here, but your card isn't there, unless you made a mistake in the name.

Now, try to disable the ZIP drive and then enable the sound card.

Also post me your IRQ list: control panel, device manager, click on computer then properties. This will give you a list of all IRQ. Post it here if you can.

Viper,

The Zip Drive appears to be the problem. I deleted the Zip drive and the sound has been working fine (no crashes) for the last three hours. The sound still stutters a bit when the game is loading, but I can easily live with that. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

No problem, no problem, no problem :D
