Space Race Victory

One of the elements added to SR-Cold War is the Space Race. This is a combination of researching projects and building facilities. There are six Milestones to be reached, each with a different combination of projects and facilities. For example, to achieve the "Manned Space Flight" Milestone, the player needs to research "Orbital Launch Systems" and "Manned Space Flight" which are unlocked after completing the "Escape Velocity" Milestone. The player must also complete the construction of a Mission Control facility.

There is an optional Victory Condition of Space Race which gives a win to the first player who achieves the "Man on the Moon" Milestone.

Won't this mean most games ending by the late 60s? Can this victory path be disabled? Seems cool though.

Oh, yes. If you disable that victory condition there is still benefit in terms of reputation and other stuff related to completing the space race.

what are the exact benefits of it, actually ?

you should get a research efficiency boost (research in space is a current topic in real life), it should be easier to expand and hold the SoI on the countries of course, maybe higher tourism income (space tourism), higher reputation and relations, maybe even develop satellites that launch nuclear missiles, which you shouldnt be able to destroy as the attacked country. satellites will give you benefits like in SR2020, maybe even higher ones, i've found them a little too small there.

I read elsewhere that one of the devs was looking forward, post-release, to making Canada be first into space. This certainly implies that anyone who meets the tech and funding requirements "can into space!"

Will the expansion of other space-based things be a possibility? For example, have the Space Race continue beyond the Moon landing and have permanent Moon research facilities, or space based weapons.

The replayability of the game just on this Victory Condition will be huge. You could try to win with any playable region. Could make for some interesting games.

Screenshots I have seen indicate that it stops at moon landing.
