Hey over there!

In our office at work we're organizing an MP-game with 9 people, the 1881 scenario.

We have the usual nations:
UK - France - Germany - Austria - Italy - Russia - Turkey - USA

But now for the ninth and last one, we're not sure between Spain or Japan?

We're more leaning towards Japan, as they have Asia all for themselves to expand and have more possibilities. Spain on the other hand is packed in Europe with so many powerhouses that it might not be fun watching all the world-events going on and you do not have enough ressources to play a major role. In this game we think that Japan is on the rise while Spain is in the decline. But as we're not experienced MP-gamers we therefore address you the MP community to share your thoughts with us. Is it possible to have fun with Spain, can you transform this country in an important power in a reasonable amount of time or is Japan the better choice?

Should our MP-game get going I'm playing with the thought of providing you with reports here on this forum, if there is interest.

Looking forward to your comments.

I know Spain can accomplish a lot in the 36 scenario, but I don't think Spain is in such a good shape in the 1881 scenario. I have limited experience with that one, but I think Spain starts out way behind in techs, factories, colonies, and hell everything compared to the other GPs. IIRC there was a bug in which Madrid had 10 million people in the vanilla Vicky 1881 scenario, I don't know if this has been fixed for Ricky, but if it hasn't then Spain is still viable I guess.

I would be extremely interested to hear how this goes no matter how brief.

Certainly MP can expose many of the flaws in the game - please do feedback
