hi there,

at the moment I only have my old laptop available
Pentium 4 @1.7
1 GB Ram

Armageddon runs well, but AOD even with the latest patch is way to slow ...

given these performances, how would Iron Cross fare in comparison?

thanks!

Hi

I have a same computer

In my case, the armageddon runs better

I play only in arma (except to do the tests), and runs more quickly

Personally, for me, armageddon run more faster that aod. Personal opinion

You can try in aod and arma, and play with the version that runs better

installed it and it is way too slow (the first year took ages), playing "regular" mod 33 or WiF is the far better option for me.

what has been done to increase speed on my part:
use counters (+ move the sprite files)
turn off music
told my anti-virus software to exclude monitoring the hoi2.exe

any further ideas?

I have a 2ghz Core 2 with 4GB of memory. I gotta say it is really slow. (installed over AoD) Much slower than AoD vanilla.

It will be very slow.

I have intel core i5 3.2GHZ , 4gb DDR3 , nvidia gts 250 cuda and I still experience a little lag in 1944.

Imagine what will happen to your pc. :p

Just so you know gunboat. In NO UNCERTAIN TERMS is a 2ghz core2 considered fast. Your ram does NOT matter after a certain gb it will experiance diminishing returns in speeding up this game. As to the thread I played from 33 to 39 on fast with no lag/crashes/or errors on FAST.

an i5, nice :)

the thing is, with such an old laptop one knows that it is hardly able to run modern games. Counterintuitively just because of this, one focuses more on the ones that have a chance of running nicely. remember we are talking about the dated "Europa engine" and Iron cross was developed for a game with these minimal requirements
PC: Pentium III with 800 MHz,
128 MB RAM,
1 GB of free hard drive space,
4 MB DirectX-compatible video card,
DirectX-compatible sound card.

add this to the equation:

how is the game speed now when you have so many provinces?

Hi

We did many proves in sp and mp with all hoi2 engines, and the performance don't changed, and the AI was better.

To avoid a loss of speed, the team changed many errors and problems in files

well, the performance did change after all

all the best

I play in armageddon version, and I have the same speed

In my computer, original AoD ran slowly, and with Iron Cross I have the same performance

I'm testing with some configurations with AoD

Consider it known. But compared to AoD, IC is much slower -that was the only point I was making. My machine stats were listed just for comparison sake for the OP.

Out of curiosity I ran a very quick test:

AoD 1.05 Germany Jan 1940 (39 scenario) - one month handsoff was 1 min 5 secs.
With IC added - July 1939 (36 scenario) - one month was 1 min 25 secs.

My setup is Core i3 530 overclocked to 3.6 GHz, 4Gb RAM, Win7 Prof 64bit. Highest speed setting used.

Both are plenty fast enough for me!

Iron Cross isnt the problem, AoD ist. This game doesnt do well on older plattforms.

I use a Core 2 Duo E8600 with 3.33GHz and 4GB DDR2 Ram, Win XP

Its a little slower than AoD 1.5 for me but i cant with play maximum speed during wartime. So its perfectly ok for me.

:D
out of curiosity I ran a slightly longer test as Switzerland at the highest speeds available including one autosave

Armageddon 1.2 (VCLV) Sept 1st 1939 - Oct 30th 1939
-> 11:09

Armageddon + Iron Cross + Revision (VHAB) Sep 1st 1939 - Oct 30th 1939
-> 19:21

that is not quite a doubling of time required :p not to mention a far cry from your speeds Rocket88

take care people!
