I know that CK2 is a processor-intensive game, but the difference between the base game and the mod is crazy. I have a 4.3 ghz (overclocked) processor running and the mod at 4-speed chugs and pulls along whereas vanilla doesn't complain. Is there a reason for this and/or a way to solve it?

Maybe use CFF explorer? It works for the Black ICE mod for Hoi3 which is very PC-intensive unless you have a Godly rig. All you do is download it, open CKII's exe file with it (by right clicking), select File Header, then Characteristics I believe, and choose "Always use >2gb of memory" and save changes to play away. I may be wrong on a few aspects of this text, but Lou Baboo has a tutorial on it for Hoi3, but it should be relatively straightforward to do with CKII.

Or you can play with no other windows open while playing, or lower settings, or set the CKII exe to high priority on Task Manager.

Hope this helps a lot!

Is there any way to do this for Mac or is it done automatically?

Do you mean the High priority on Task Manager? I'm sorry, I'm not aware of any particular way for Mac's. But the last points I made do only tiny differences that may help the overall quality of gameplay. As long as you've got the first part good, you should be fine. But if you meant CFF Explorer, then again I still don't know, but I'm fairly sure that CKII does it automatically, since my Hoi3 game already used >2GB of RAM without me even needing to change anything.
