Speeding Up EU2?

I am currently running EU2 on a computer that meets the recommended settings for EU2. However, the game is playing much slower than it does on my laptop (which is slightly stronger). Is there anything I can do to increase the speed of the game? extremely fast usually runs at the same speed as above normal does, or worse. Thanks.

The most important thing is memory. Depending on your Windows version, I recommend at least 256mb (pre-XP) or 384mb (XP), preferably 512mb.

Read the FAQ in the Victoria support forum, it pretty much applies to EU2 as well.
