By kind permission of the Rome Improved Map Project team, I am proud to present:

SPQR 0.3 for the Improved Map 1.2 beta.

This download incorporates the latest beta release of the Improved Map Project with the 0.3 release of the SPQR mod - seamlessly integrated.

http://www.mediafire.com/?hjn0byumvla

You will note that neither RIMP nor SPQR is fionished yet. However this package is stable, enjoyable, and a vast improvement on the vanilla game in so many ways.

Please follow the (very brief) installation instructions included in the readme file of the download.

And please use this thread for any comments.

Feedback

Playing as Sparta and I very much enjoy the combined efforts for this mod - thanks again

-'Cursed' Event - I hate it with a vengeance, esp when it triggers twice in 2 months in addition to other -neg stability events due to ruler poor health.

-My ruler married his father's 2nd wife, and the dynasty tree couldnt keep up. Im not sure if something in the mod allowed this to happen, or just WAD from rome vanilla, just have never seen it happen before. Made me wish I was writing an AAR

Noted. This event certainly shouldn't be triggering twice in 2 months... perhaps I left out a not condition!

This must be a vanilla problem, since SPQR only plays with peoples' families as of the next beta I might release later on.

Help please

Hi there

I am new to this game / community. I downloaded the "SPQR on the Improved Map" package. I unzipped to my "mod" folder. I removed the "/map/cache/province_textures" folders (and I presume everything in them). When I went to start the mod though, running through game start-up screen, the game itself crashed on me. Is this a bug, or is it something I did wrong? If it is the latter, can someone please help me do it right? And meaning no disrespect to anyone involved, I would note that the installation instructions that are included in the .zip file of the mod are not very clear, especially to someone like myself with no prior experience of this process.

Many thanks for any help in advance,
Amartus

Try restoring the folders, but making sure they're empty.

No, the instructions aren't the clearest. I was kind-of assuming that since this includes two half-finished mods only relatively hardcore people would be interested :)

Thanks

Kk. Will do.

"No, the instructions aren't the clearest. I was kind-of assuming that since this includes two half-finished mods only relatively hardcore people would be interested :)"

Hardcore? No. But I am finding my inability to conquer Carthage on the original game a bit of an arse; besides, I am an Ancient History grad, so any excuse to slaughter barbarians in new and exciting ways is worth it! :p

TheLand, please keep me informed about your number of downloads you achieved by combining the mods. And please to anyone, I would like to see some AARs with RIMP and SPQR!

Hi, every one

First thanks for these Mod, i'm actually playing Massilia with SPQR + RIMP, as i encounter "strange behavior" i want to report them to have your point of view.

As i'm a noob with EU Rome i play in "easy mode" to discover your mods actually i'm in the 550's. And now the strange things (for me) :

- Massilia is an ally of Roma, but Roma didn't call me each time they are at war. Wich it's a good things as they are always at war with some one.

- Italy was invaded by Egypt, Carthago, Athens, Nervi, and barbarians. Roma have lost many provinces, and remain with 14 provinces. The majority of this lost come gradually but each time with enormous army size 35 to 40 troups was the norm. Actually Roma is in the 14th Punic War, say 12th Egyptian War, his 10th Eduans war, and 4th Athenian war ...

- On another side, Massilia was at war every twenty years with celts confederation, they can come with 20 to 25 units for each nations, and can maintain 25 units in one province during peace time.

- I was able during the game to establish 14 colonies in northen spain and southern gaul, but with a really very low Man Rate. Some years i can made two colonies from the same colonie, during the same year.

- On another side, massilian characters are the most part of the time "crazy" with 15 to 20 traits wich make them unable to do anything without revolt as governor.

I don't know if you find this comments of any help, but if that was the case i can give you further notes as i progress in this play ?

Good luck with these mods.

PS. Sorry for my bad english as this not my native langage.

- Weird things part 2.

As i pursue my game, strange things get worse, and change the game in a high magic fantasy things :

- Peasant revolt : i encounter "ghost revolt" in many province. The total population of those province is between 10 to 12 but the "revolting" can obtain 12 to 20 army in those province ? oh yes and you can't do anything to stop this ridiculous feat ... just make your Consul a conan like king create army an crush and kill anything ...

- bad eyes and other nasty omen can create weird effect. I start with Stability 3, but "curse, bad eyes, and the like" i will find me at Stability -3 in less than 2 years. I can't do anything to maintain Stability ... i raise it with "sacrifice" but the last month i'll get "bad eyes" again ... lol ... i can't find "witch hunter unit" to counter those magic.

- I beat Eduan to a single province, get all their money with tribute, and impose them a montly tribute equal to their income, to have peace some time. lol ... but i forgot "druid magic" ... two years later with no man power, no money, they can have raise 10 military unit, and bribe one governor to seize one province... fabulous ...

- My old roman ally, who have now 10 provinces, encounter a civil war, the roman have tech level around 12, but "roman rebel" get tech level 25 ???

- Another strange things, when a major nation say Carthage, Egypt or Macedonia is at war (attack) with some else ... the next year they are at war (defend) in two or three others wars most part of the time. So after a century of play i'll can see a strange patchwork of province, with egyptian, seleucid, macedonian and minor province having "war province conquered" every where on the map.

I'm sorry but i didn't continue this game ... too high magic fantasy for me ... i can't find the interest of playing a game in wich you can't make anything to counter this "bad magic things" ...

When you say war, what do you mean? I can't see how Rome and Carthage can have been at war 14 different times in a mere 75 years.

Units and populations points are not on the same scale. SPQR increases the size of rebellions because, well, a stack of 1-5 light infantry as a "revolt" isn't a challenge for anything.

- bad eyes and other nasty omen can create weird effect. I start with Stability 3, but "curse, bad eyes, and the like" i will find me at Stability -3 in less than 2 years. Occasionally new SPQR events will reduce your stability but that shouldn't be happening 6 times in 2 years as you suggest. Did you do anything else to decrease your stability?

- I beat Eduan to a single province, get all their money with tribute, and impose them a montly tribute equal to their income, to have peace some time. lol ... but i forgot "druid magic" ... two years later with no man power, no money, they can have raise 10 military unit, and bribe one governor to seize one province... fabulous ...

Yep. EU:Rome is set up to model civilized areas which means Gallic tribes are underpowered. Hence, they get units by event in SPQR. Think of it as modelling the ability of the Gauls to field huge armies for short periods of time.

Odd that they found the money to bribe a governor though!

- My old roman ally, who have now 10 provinces, encounter a civil war, the roman have tech level around 12, but "roman rebel" get tech level 25 ???

Vanilla bug.
