Ok, this has been turned into an AAR.. just keep scrolling down, Gentleman.

Playing as Czechs, Germany backed down over the Sudentanland (annoying), USSR refused MR pact, Germany attacked Poland, Allies DOW'd, USSR DOW'd, USSR took out Germany; Japan then DOW'd Allies and USA, USSR DOW'd Allies.. all by Nov' 41.. so the mighty Czechs join the Allies and cut off the Russian Bear :)

I think we've trapped about 250 Divs or so, the problem is the other couple of hundred I am sure are on their way  Still, great fun!

OMG!

Uhoh ... that's some HUGE gaps in your line, man. And you can count on them units getting supplied by sea. You can do an AAR from this point onwards, if you like. I for one, would be interested to see how it pans out :)

Write an AAR for it then, go for it.

I sometimes play out a game from '36 or '38 and then realize around '41 or '42 that it would've made a good AAR. My current game as Italy was like that, I have a game as Japan that's like that ... Oh well, c'est la vie.

By the way, good job as Czechoslovakia.

It reminds me of my AARs. :D

Well I am up to July, Russians have pushed the line eastwards (thier industry is starting to show!), still holding on though.
If the forums hadn't been down, i would've aar'd it :(
Exciting last night, Russians managed to briefly reconnect the link in Stettin, but a last gasp attack by two tank divs recut it. French are doing good work reducing the pocket, Potsdam keeps exchanging hands, may post a screenie tonight :)

I always end up making an AAR anyway. Seriously, the AARs that I've written are 50% of the games that I have played!

Ok, here we go.. maybe this should goto the AAR Forum, up to the mods I guess.

This was the situation in 1st June 1941, as you can see I've been pushed back in the East by overwhelming numbers. Southern Czechslovakia is threatened, and enemy continually try to break out in the West.
I was holding the Vistula barely, and the front was beginning to crumble through lack of troops, with mapower beginning to drop. Things were beginning to look bleak.

Here again on 1st July 1941 (these are my last two autosaves :eek:o ).
The Russians have broken the line of the Vistula despite my best attempts to hold it, and we are falling back to the Oder. The French are making oh so slow progress through Northern Germany and Holland, I am low on supplies, new divisions are arriving too slowly to stem the horde. My dissent is still far too high affecting all my combat, and things are looking grim.

And the present, July 27th 1941. The Russians break the encirclement briefly, and only a desperate counterattack from 2 Tank Divisions re-establish it, and prevent the units to the North from getting encircled themselves. For how much longer I can keep this up, I am not sure!
In a bid to reduce TC load, Hungary is liberated and can hopefully begin to look after itself. The French have made gains in the North, thus eliminating more Russian division, but more, far more, remain. The Russians have reached Potsdam, and my troops are far too disorganised to remove them. The Russians are quieter in the South, allowing me to do a few local counterattacks, but these are hampered by lack of supplies and more importantly, numbers. Taking on the Bear is proving difficult!

More as I continue later, may get some screens of troop numbers etc if people want them or are interested.

First, can some nice Moderator move this to the AAR Forum and change the name to something more appropriate if possible? Thanks. :)

OK, so here we go again (if anyone is interested, sorry it's not very good, never done this before!).

We left it at the reclosing of the pocket. This was being held by two armoured division, with reinforcements on the way. However, this could not be held forever.
In the south, my other two armoured divisions retreated in the face of overwhelming Soviet firepower, rather than sacrificing valubale men and material. They moved to rejoin the main army group in Kosice.

To gain some breathing space, an offensive to widen the gap and retake Stralsund was launched on the 29th. This would allow a further offensive to retake Potsdam to be undertaken in more favourable conditions. This became more critical as Kustrin came under attack, threatening to reopen the pocket.
Kustrin Soviet counterattack:

Stralsund Offensive:

Situation August 1st, 1942. You can see the retreating Divisions in the South, with divisions moving into reinforce Kustrin and retake Stralsund. The large Soviet Prescence in the South is beginning to concern me. All future produced Divisions will be placed there. The French are making steady (but slow) progress.

The planned offensive into Potsdam goes according to plan, enabling the availble pocket for the Russians to get smaller and smaller. Surely they are doomed?

Things get worse in the South. A massive attack by the Soviets into kosice, one of my Homelands. We have no choice but to retreat.

This is the situation on August 9th. We have success in the North against the remaining pocket, and are holding our ground successfully. I've alleviated my supply situation by selling some un-needed Energy from the stockpile. This should keep me going a little longer.

However, in the South:

Things are not so good. We are retreating back to my circular fortress line developed against a possible German invasion. However, Soviet strength continues to grow despite their losses in the pocket. Current Infantry strength alone is 297 divisions, against my 29.
I fear the end may not be long.

I like it. Keep going.

Come on Von Uber, dont loose the hope.

First of you got your bloody forts in the bloody home country of the soldiers. Then you got your bloody Allies who will help you as soon as they have taken out the bloody pocket. Maybe take away some bloody troops in the North as the French might be inclined to take that bloody front over.

Ok maybe you gotta take out the bloody's but its not hopeless for you, just try to stall their advance, and dont give up ground to easely. Its something you learn when you play smaller countries, just hold on long enough and help will come your way. Do not loose hope or troops for that matter.

gotten bloody Britishised, haven't bloody you :p

A fine adventure. Outnumbered 10-1 against the Soviet hordes, no help from your neighbors, and fighting all the way? Sounds like another country I know! Hopefully you have more success than they did.

Cheers everyone, you encourage me. Will post an update in afew hours when I get a chance, things are getting grimmer!

Update time!

Ok here are the National Army compositions for 00:00 Aug 9th.

You can see I am heavily outnumbered (even including the French contribuition) by the USSR. The U.S.A only has 5(!) infantry divisions, I hope this is rectified in the 1.3 patch! They have been at war for 10 months after all.

Back to the action!

16:00, August 9th 1942.
Kosice is lost to the USSR. My 11 divisions in the south are facing over 30 USSR divisions.

05:00, August 12th 1942.
A counterattack is launched against Kosice, to keep the USSR off balance, and to prevent them building up a large force in that province, from which they could strike into Hungary or Czechslovakia as they chose.

05:00, August 14th 1942.
The Kosice Counterattack is a success, although the province of Presov behind it is lost to the advancing enemy. Still, there is no industry or resources in that province, so its loss is not critical.

16:00, August 15th 1942.
The Northern Army group notice the empty province of Magdeburg, and hasten to sieze it. The objective is not to hold it, but to deny it's use from the enemy for a while. Every little helps!
