I just started playing TGW and I must say I'm very impressed with this mod. I have quite a lot of MP expericene from vanilla HOI and now I'd like to try out TGW to see if its reasonably balanced as a MP game.

I'm looking for players interested in playing a HOI 1.05, TGW 1.3b campaign. House rules, times of sessions can be discussed. If you are interested please sign up and leave you ICQ, nations of preference to play. MAke sure you have a good connection and can connect to Vnet. I'm looking to have all 8 nations from the regular campaign playing. What to do about Italy and Turkey I'm not sure but I'm aiming to play a historical campaign with Turkey joining the Central powers and Italy going either way. Is there US WE working here as well as in HOI or how should US entry be handled?

Feel free to contact me regarding any questions or comments. ICQ in sig.

I'd suggest that you disable the defeat events beforehand, as they're a tad knackered at the moment (although fixed on my version). Without them, you'd be able to test the combat capabilities of the warring nations to the maximum past the point by which they would historically have given up.

I only wish that there would be a version that go together with 1.06 before we start since this patch is great one for Vanilla HOI.

Regarding the events to be disabled, which ones and where can they be found? I suppose you mean the ones that makes an AI nation go back to peace once you oocupy its capital? Would these trigger even if human controlled? Sorry, I'm not really the best event hacker there is around...

I guess tech sharing would be ok in a MP camapign since everyone starts with low DP.

Difficuly should probably be VH to lower IC of all nations and balance for overachieving players.

Ok, thx.
I'm not sure the defeat events are the biggest obstacle to playing. After analyzing the setup it seems the Entente has a crushing superiority in Manpower and IC. With the mobilization events and Mass combat ministers I'm not sure the Central Powers will be able to hold even until 1918 but it remains to be shown.

I think only one man can meet this challenge.

Stephen!!!

I sense Stephen would give oncomers a proper drubbing - Falkenhayn, Fire Brigade n'all ;)

If I had a better internet connection, I'd give it a go myself and we'd be able to have the ultimate TGW showdown - myself the TGW Director playing as Mongolia versus Stephen the TGW serial AAR author playing as Jebel Shammar :p

Um... I've never played multiplayer and I suspect that knowing how to get the better of the AI isn't really the best preparation.

Besides, in 18 hours' time my plane will be taking off from Heathrow for points East, and by the time I get back I'm hoping to be able to read the AAR of this multiplayer game. :)

The mod is really impressive I must say, however the AI is certainly very far from the opposition one might expect from a human oponent if vanilla HOI is anything to judge from. One can not compare a SP to a MP game, thats for sure. I have posted over in the HOI MP forum to get some attention from players there.

I'm still dubious to the Central Powers ability to withstand the Entente in MP when UK, France and Russia all have Mass combat ministers this each one individually surpassing Germany in MP. But I'm definately willing to give this project a try if enough players present themselves.

Poppy, all you need to play in MP is ICQ and a stable internet connection. Feel free to contact me if you would like to see if it works for you. Sometimes routers etc can mess things up a bit.

No one signed up so far!? May I conclude that no one has played a say 6-8 MP campaign in TGW yet? Well lets hope that some people will volonteer before vanilla 1.06 campaigns will take too much of my time. It's really a great test of game and scenario balance to try it in MP, also its way more fun and challenging than SP.

If you want to add me to ICQ please state that its for TGW so I don't decline you in belief its spam or something similar.

This thread is still active but not regularly checked.

Sign up in this thread. My ICQ is in my sig.

I think a MP game would have to be somewhat experimental and a help to the designers balancing the scenarios with respect to MP play. I am able to host over IP so we dont need a vnet channel.

I'm thinking mondays would be a good day to play if anyone would ever be interested. Contact me if you feel like trying it out,
