OK, i started a game as Sweden (just for fun, don't comment on that), typed Robespierre and moved my slider towards Interventionist (that's the ONLY cheat i'm doing in the game), got a non-agression pact with Germany, joined the Allies, and DOW'ed Italy in Febuary 1936. Currently, it's looking nice enough. "The Big Three" in Northern Italy (Milan, Turin, Genoa) was taken by France, with me moving my tactical bombers and naval bombers there. I also have most of my navy there, and some of my army is moving (i got military access through Denmark and Germany). Sorry, i don't have screenies yet (i have to reduce it to being extremely small for Imageshack to upload them, and when i stupidly deleted the link i was going to upload instead of cutting&pasting i just got mad), but i can give you a small situation report on all theaters

Italy Mainland: Turin, Milan, Genoa, La Spezia and Florence have been taken by France. France has a total of 11 armies in there. Sweden has its Air Force (yes the entire one) stationed here. UK has a squadron stationed.

East Africa: There was some fierce fighting for Dijibouti for a while, but the Italians have retreated to Ethiopia, which is a mess. French armies chasing the Italians, Ethiopian armies being chased down by the Italians and to top it all off the Italian units are entering Abbis Adeba. Small Italian transport fleet nearby, the British aren't sinking it

North Africa: The front where the Italians have the most success. They have taken Sollum, Siddi Barani etc and are 3 provinces away from Alexandria. They might end up in trouble tho, the French are attacking from the West and are only a single province from Tripoli. I think the Italians might just abandon Tripoli and reinforce the Egypt front. Problem is, if they are without a port (um...Tobruk is in danger too *Cough*), how do they get supplies? I guess they might have to capture Alexandria. Maybe they might end up getting the Middle East and Egypt while the British take Lybia :D

Central Med: This is owned by the Brits. They have the Med Fleet and the Reserve Fleet on Malta, plus they have a nice naval bomber squadron there. Only 3 ships on the Sunk Ships list aren't Italian.

Adriatic: The British have a carrier there. Nuff said

Western Med: I haven't seen an Italian ship there in ages. We have our best ships patrolling along with plenty of Frenchies. Note that most of the Italian Navy is holed up in Rome and Palermo

Eastern Med: *Cough*Alexandria*Cough*

Edit: I also noticed that the French seem to be incredible with subs. A single SS sunk 4 Italian ships including a battleship alone!

Also, i just noticed something. The Iraqi Air Force is patrolling the West Med  Also, the Italians are daring to come out of port again! I'm waiting for my first naval kill

Now the Italians are in for some trouble. France gained 4 provinces in the course of a day. Venice, Trento, Rimini and Perugia. Bologna and Ferrara are encircled and Rome is in for serious trouble. My fleets are thorougly scanning the areas around Sicily for Italian ships. I don't need to bother about air support, the British and French have more air wings than i can count. On the other hand, things in North Africa aren't going too well. El Alamein, Alexandria and Cairo are all within sight.

Our first naval combat happened today! In the Gulf of Salerno, the Regia Marina retreated after two hours of action. We lost our only Destroyer Flotilla, a Light Cruiser and a Submarine Flotilla, and the Italians lost the same number of vessels. But there's one important difference - they lost a CA too. I doubt the Regia Marina will stay out of port for very long.

Situation Update - the French are committing divisions to the Italian front where they are working on the encirclement of Rome. The Tripoli Offensive hasn't started yet and they are down to a measly division in Tunisia. The Italians have 5 in Tripoli. I'm wondering if the Italians are evacuating Rome. They should be, because they have 8 divisions, 3 destroyer flotillas, one transport flotilla and some air units there.

Pardon me for the quadrouple post, but i have news!

My 2 land contributions to the war, an infantry division and a militia division, are arriving pretty soon

Also, the Italians still have 2 divisions trapped behind the French lines! One of them is trapped in Bologna (now overtaken by France) and one is retreating from Venice! Lovely, isn't it. No news from the Med, BTW

The French are assaulting Rome! Operation Foch is underway! A single French Infantry Division (scratch that, 5 infantry) is pounding the Italian lines with air support, waiting for an armor division to arrive

At 11:00 on April 2., The Italians are on the run. Soon my 2 divisions will arrive and reinforce the lines.

More news: April 6. shows more naval combat. Our 7-ship fleet meets 2 Italian CAs and a transport fleet. All of them are gone against no losses on our side.

Please, reply, someone

Anyways:

Pescara, Anzio and Cassino are all secured. The French are advancing Westward. The Italian Navy is running short on capital ships and they are in a deadlock in Egypt.

OK, now its April 12. 1936. Naples is in French hands. Palermo is the capital of Italy now. Their heaviest vessel is a Heavy Cruiser. The nice thing is, they always seem to have several vessels in the harbours we capture, and so they either get scuttled or captured. It is 8 days Game Time until my units arrive ;)

The Italian mainland has been overtaken by the French! This could be the start of something huge!

Our troops are arriving in Naples in a week

Edit: Well it's gone much more than a week, and i have 1 infantry division amphibing Tobruk. The French are assaulting Palermo with 10 divisions. IMO Italy is crushed.

OK, New Update: We are now late in May, and i am focusing on taking the last VP province in Africa from the Italians.

Continuing Tomorrow.

BTW: The French are constantly launching attacks on Palermo from the other side of the straight!

sounds like you're having a jolly good time... remember to seize some of that territory for sweden! like, sicily, or sardinia, or some lovely beach in lbya *g*

you'll need holiday resorts for the time when Sweden will be a rich welfare nation and competing against west german tourists for the pool chairs on mallorca, at six o'clock in the morning. *g*

I already have Tobruk. I'm mopping up the last VP's in Africa.

June 8: Augh! The British snatched Bengazi! I now have to move for a landing on Sardinia (Sicily is too well guarded). Let's just hope the British don't snatch Tobruk

Edit: Second thoughts, i'll keep them in Tobruk. The Italians now have 2 divisions on Sicily, 1 division in North Africa, and at least 10 holed up in East Africa. They have no escape, Britsh divisions will kill them in the end

At 4:00 AM on June 24, 1936, France annexed Italy. Western Lybia including Tripoli went to them. The United Kingdom got Eastern Lybia, with Sweden keeping Tobruk and Mechili. France got the Italian Mainland and Sicily and Sardinia. All in all it had been a glorious war for the Allies from the start. Naval combat was a mere distraction, really. Only 8 ships on the Sunk Ships list were not Italian. Sweden had only lost 1 light cruiser, 1 destroyer flotilla, and 1 submarine flotilla. And those Italian ships were later sunk by Swedish ships, mostly the flagship HMS Sverige, which sunk 3 Italian light cruisers alone. Sweden now had a "colony" which they called Swedish Lybia.

Oh, and, meanwhile, Nationalist China is gobbling up Guanxi Clique. Right on schedule. But does the world care?

Good luck taking Sardinia. Sounds like it could be used as a Swedish launching pad to take other places in the Med. Inf act, if all the good places in Libya have been taken, I recommend you withdraw and focus on taking Sardinia as a stepping stone.

It's a good read, though. I hope you get some screenshots sometime soon.

I'm reorganising the navy: What's usually Kystflottan and Ålandskadren are now "Langdistansflåtan" and the rest is "hemmaflåtan". Sorry if my Swedish is bad..

Edit: Now this is wierd. A day after i DOW Japan, they DOW the US and the Phillipines :D 5 years ahead of schedule

Edit 2: My navy is heading for Singapore and my Air Force is going to Hong Kong. Japs haven't even DOW'ed China yet!

Now they are in for some serious trouble. They have an angry China, slowly plotting to kick them back to the Home Isles, they have all the Allies on their ass, they have the US (now with the allies BTW) and so on.

July something: Goddamnit! The Japs took Hong Kong without letting me know! Now i don't have a single air unit! F*** it

Edit: My fleet is heading towards Singapore. On the way we met and destroyed 2 Japanese Battlecruisers. In 2 years i'll have 2 battleships ready to replace Sverige and Drotting Victoria as flagships. As for now i'm building up my Air Force after it was completely crushed in Hong Kong. This time i'll base it in safe territory.

August: My fleet is shore bombarding the now Japanese-held Hong Kong. It met a small Japanese Cruiser Squadron, and sunk 1 ship.

September is here, and the IJN is dying. But so are we. HMS Sverige, a couple of cruisers and a transport is all we have left. Oscar II and Drottning Victoria were lost. I'm seriously wondering if i should retreat my navy to India, so i can catch any stray Japanese ships in the Indian Ocean instead of sailing around in Japanese hunter territory.

OK, here we are: A single Liberian Division is defending Hong Kong on the ground, along with air support. The Commonwealth has made a landing at Dalian. They have a single Kiwi Cavalry Division plus way too much air support against 3 Japanese infantry divisions and 1 cavalry division, all with AA! The Japanese part of Sakhalin has been taken by the Brits. On the Filipino front: The Japanese are outside Manila and have also taken (most of) the small islands in the south. Currently, i have the following on my production line

-10x convoy transports for my Goteborg-Tobruk convoy
-2x normal transports for my army
-1x 1918 Infantry
-2x Armor Divisions
-1x Interceptor Squadron
-2x Battleships
-Another Transport
-1x Tactical Bomber Squadron
-1x DD

You are doing well, and this is cool. Nice to see Sweden as the big bad wolf ;) Keep it up
