As you can see below a very small Slesvigian army retreated into my siege and suddenly "stole" it. The explanation seems to be that this levy was raised before either of mine and due to what I assume is a faulty mechanism becomes siege leader.

Oh, I always thought it was whoever arrived at the siege first. Wow, that's a pretty serious issue - unless that 1 archer who showed up must have been Samuel L. Jackson or something!

People my age would say Chuck Norris - but yeah :D

I think it is supposed to go by rank actually - since I am a king and the other guy is a duke and my vassal I should keep the siege in this case.

Do you have a save file of this issue? If so, please upload it. If your quota is full, use an external hosting site such as mediafire.

My quota is not big enough for paradox sized saved games ;)

Unfortunately this does not happen every time it is loaded since the unit stealing the siege gets killed off every once in a while instead of retreating.

Are you sure it's not just a graphical bug? I had the King of England "stealing" one of my sieges, despite the fact that he was really just passing through. When the siege ended (with him as shown siege leader) I still gained the holding.

I've not been able to recreate the situation with the save file you uploaded. I always win the siege before anyone else arrives (due to them needing to fight off newly raised Shia levies). The save seems to be from several months after your screenshot too, so I'm not sure its the right one.

Also, are you using any Mods? I ask because your king has a base stewardship of 41, which is just a little more than the game normally allows. If other changes in your game alter things like levy sizes it may be hard for anyone else to recreate the situation you are reporting.

Nope, if I leave it as is the duke gets the final holding.

I uploaded the wrong save

This one (http://www.mediafire.com/?21pu4ysqwtbvmu6) is from right before it happens - when the siege of the second to last holding ends the duke "steals" the siege of the final holding.

Game is unmodded v1.04c with checksum: CPGP where stewardship of this magnitude is quite easy to attain with the amass wealth ambition and a monthly income of 80+ ;)

Thats why amass wealth ambition should only be able to do once with the same ruler.

No, there should just be a chance that you got the trait 'content' every time you fulfilled the ambition and once that happened you would be unable to do it again. Maybe make the threshold for completion rise exponentially for each completion and do the same for the chance of getting 'content'.

I can see that he has a one man army in the siege, but he does not steal it at any point. Although the siege will end a day or two after the save since the crusade will be over.

Are you trying the second save, K-vald? With that one I was able to reproduce the issue. The first siege, where the Danes and the 1-archer army are in the same province gets won by the Danish armies. The last holding's siege gets tagged by the Slesvigian army.

OP: Did you reorganize your troops at any point during the siege? I notice you have two armies, one lead by a holy order grand master and the other lead by your king. I think I've seen weird things happen when you move troops between armies before (the sort of thing that would have lost you leadership of the siege in previous Paradox games).

That has never happened to me when I have reloaded that save...

Possibly - I added the small army with the king at some point after winning the first holding.

Yeah, I tried them both actually. But I can try to reproduce it a few more times!

UPDATE: Aha! I tried with an older version and then the crusade did not end, seems to be another issue here as well. I was able to reproduce it and indeed, when it's "time" to siege a new holding the siege will change owner even if you are still in charge of the siege.
