I have the same issue. only with EU4.
I play with Linux. Manjaro last version.
I've uninstalled Steam and all the games, and then reinstalled the games. I've deleted the directories. unsubscribed mods.
The game works fine with other Paradox games like Cities Skylines or Crusader Kings, but with EU4, no matter what I do, it keeps failing. From Steam or from EU4.exe, if I ignore it, the game eventually crashes.
Steam runs without any issues, and other non-Paradox games work smoothly.

"In steam, right click, properties, compatibility, check "Force the use of specific Steam Play compatibility tool", uncheck it again.
A new download (~290 MB) should start. It's the actually Linux version again."
